Had a long conversation with my opc yesterday. They don't anticipate a price rise in January.

However they do expect one early in the new year.

My OPC is expecting a price rise in January. Not sure about the factory excuse, the drop in the value of the pound may have more to do with it. When I collected my 718 Boxster 10 days ago they told me they can't get any more Boxsters at the moment. First it was the Cayman and now the Boxster

Hi there

Could you tell me when you put your deposit down ? And did your 718 come earlier than
they had quoted to you ? Cheers

Hi Scott,

I placed my order on 20th May (number 4 on the list) and went to lock-down on the 14th October. I was told that the car should arrive at the end of December and, after lock-down, the forecast was 23rd Dec. It arrived at the dealership on 23rd November and I collected it 10th Dec. The sales guy said it was a surprise to them as they thought it was going to be delayed.

On a different subject did you manage to negotiate any freebies etc?

Lol - yes they do make you feel like that.

Reading some of the feedback from other guys makes me think this isn't peculiar to our OPC. If I'm honest I feel like the whole experience of buying a new car was slightly spoiled due to the hard sales technique - would be good to hear what others think.

Think the oil downturn is making the salesmen in Aberdeen more hard sell but would agree it isn't a nice buying experience my uncle worked for Porsche years ago as a manager was Reg Vardy then he said they were not a nice company to work for - hopefully a few more Cayman owners on PHeads in Aberdeenshire and we can get a few meets/hoons next year bud

Hi my spec lock down was 20th November 2016 with build date 15th December 2016, delivery to OPC
15th January 2017.
No indication it would be sooner although other posts on here indicate delivery to OPC could well be sooner.
My piggy bank is beginning to look very worried
Nearly there Keith thumbup

Got a call from the OPC yesterday. My Cayman build is scheduled for May, and should be a late May delivery (won't be surprised if it is June). Will let me know about freeze dates closer to the time.

I'm guessing there is going to be a bit of a break in production in the first quarter of 2017, as I was next on the list for local OPC. Pretty sure this means they must have no cars allocated for March/April.

Ah balls. Sounds that way as this factory "re-tooling" drags on.

I'm next in line at my OPC too and he had originally been optimistic about something appearing in March (they only had two slots for Q1, 1 in Jan, 1 in Feb).

Looks like i'll be subject to the daft tax rise then....

I was told just before Xmas by OPC that my Cayman was still scheduled to be built/completed 15/2/2017 & should be in UK by 1st March ! I'll post if I hear any different.
My spec lockdown is 10th January ( although spec confirmed 6 weeks ago), so balance of 10% deposit will be paid then.

Wow that's some wait - I have quickly learned that the sales rep I dealt with is either highly optimistic or told me what I wanted to hear as I order Mid November and was told March. I have accepted that this is bks smile

Think I paid the deposit around July 14th, and had I ordered just a couple of weeks before would have had a January car. The way the timing worked a 7 month wait has turned into 10 months.

Not the end of the world...

Yes , True but not much wiggle room. Given others wait times i'm expecting June / July especially as others have mentioned a factory retooling
