I came here looking to to see if I was the only person having problems with my order and frustratingly it seems not.

Order - 718 Cayman
Deposit paid - Late October
Told my build slot was locked in for Mid January 2017

I chased this past week and was told "They are relocating the factory so production is low at the moment, the build has been pushed back until late April and hopefully delivery early May"

Not happy at all.....
Oh dear. The Q1 2017 build slots were allocated mid-November so your dealer would have known for a while he wouldn't be able to get you a build in January..... unless they genuinely thought more slots would be opened up by Porsche.

Whilst its probably right that they'll get you a build slot for April now (assuming you're next on the list), I don't think they can say that for sure yet as I think the Q2 slots don't get confirmed till the end of next month.

To put in perspective, I've had a deposit down since August and still no build slot. I'm apparently next on the list so should be similar to you in (hopefully) getting an April build slot.

My deposit was paid in may 2016, lockdown was end of November and I have a build slot on 19th January.

Credit has already been checked and all systems seem to be on go!!

I hate reading threads like this cause it makes me worry but my dealer has reassured me that everything seems good.

I have to agree with some of the sentiments on here that Porsche have been pretty shoddy with keeping customers and dealers informed.

I am beginning to realise my ordered car probably still has no build slot and the dates given
to me by OPC were smoke and mirrors.

So if that is right why is my OPC telling me the price is fixed on registration of the vehicle????? until that point the price can go up! terms and conditions on order form?.
I was also told the car would be built 15th December 2016 but clearly with revised delivery that cannot be the case!

The price is fixed when a car leaves the factory and an invoice is raised.

No "axe to grind" but I was told just before Xmas by "my" OPC that they'd have a shocking allocation of build slots for Q1 across Cayman, Boxster and 911. Much worse than they'd expected. I was told that in passing as my Cayenne that was due to be built in Dec is now being built this month.

No idea only saying what the OPC told me at lockdown !! Probably a heap of lies to stop me cancelling order 20th December lockdown build January delivered to OPC mid February apparently will get it 1/3/17 will believe it when I see it sort of taken the enjoyment of buying a new car if I have known this last July I would have walked out of showroom

had my OPC contact today said looking likely a build in May for June vs March for April.

Was fully expected - he said they're not 100% confident on anything at the moment due to the factory and unexpected allocation numbers. I'm happy to wait as it's what I want but it's not the best experience I agree.

Local OPC only got allocated one Cayman in January. Was hoping for a late March delivery but now have no idea - apparently four/five people ahead of me in the list and OPC has no idea of expected allocation numbers. Close to cancelling, especially if the next allocation at month end doesn't give me at least a ballpark month the car may arrive.

What do you think the cause is, holding back for a price rise?

Factory re-tooling/move is the official line from Porsche. My OPC gave that reason as have others on here.

My OPC told me yesterday that there are no Caymans being manufactured during 2017 due to the Factory relocation from Stuttgart to Hanover . Although they can still take orders now for 2018 delivery .

Well that can't be true as mine is being built at the moment, to be shipped in February.

Surely your OPC means that there are no more 2017 build slots available and is predicying it'd be 2018 before he can secure you a car?!

It'd be pretty hilarious if a company such as Porsche launched a new car to such promotion and fanfare then suddenly realised it'd have to stop production for an entire year! laugh

You would have thought they would have sorted this " retooling" issue better !!!
Why release the car September 2016 and just make a handful
Ordered mine in June with one OPC and I was so far down the queue and they were so vague about delivery I placed another deposit elsewhere in October being " promised" cut off last week build 24/2 ....... could all be bull
I've never owned a Porsche but the whole ordering and service has really really tarnished spending 55 k on a 2.0 Cayman . I can barely afford the car and I really would have liked it before April
The OPC I'm now with could have got me the car by December 2016 if I had gone with them to start with....allocation process is bizarre as well ......total disaster !! I think they were struggling to get orders in June because all the press experts were knocking the sound of the car but now there are no new reviews , or less negative ones, everyone wants one now !

Give them a call and see what's up.

Given the fact that I've had to have an entirely new build of a 718CS due to poor communication from OPC, don't leave anything up to assumption. Open those lines of communication if they aren't.

Not Portsmouth?

I was there today, and "my" cancelled slot was due to be delivered today.

They said they have had 3 cancellations so far of people losing patience.
