Has anyone awaiting there 718 has issues with delivery over Christmas?
I was expecting to be collecting my car tomorrow which was all good until last night I was told I couldn’t. Not been given a reason why other than the car isn’t available. It has been in the uk docks since 18th December... do I have reason to get grumpy with the OPC as they haven’t been keeping me in the loop and I have been chasing up?
Getting a bit sick of the experience now as it’s not the first mistake they’ve made.
I had the same - and it seems our experience is not unusual - Porkers get held up in UK docks regularly. Not related to the Christmas period.

Not good for OPC to keep you out of the loop, but keep chasing updates. Took around 10 to 15 days for mine to get through the delay as I recall.

I'm collecting it tomorrow, and the salesman from my OPC has emailed me to say he'll make sure my experience during the handover is one to remember. Any ideas what he's talking about? How were your own personal experiences collecting your new Caymans? Cordoned off section of the showroom, sheet over the car etc etc etc? Just looking for some heads up on what to expect!
Forgot to update you guys on how dreadful the handover ended up being. A complete let down and such a disappointment. My brand new car was left out in the customer car park in the rain/snow when I arrived! furious No special reveal, not even inside, absolutely nothing at all. My salesman ended up not working that day either, so some other guy did the handover and was like “so yeah that’s your car there” with no enthusiasm whatsoever. Not even an apology when I mentioned that I wasn’t happy to see it essentially abandoned outside parked up next to some muddy Range Rover. They have a handover bay yet had the nerve to tell me they couldn’t use it because someone else’s car was already in it due for collection later that day. Where is the logic in this? My collection time was first, so why wasn’t my car put in the handover bay before the other one? Then the guy was about to take us outside in the cold to show us the car’s functions... no chance. Asked him to move my car inside to the handover bay, which he finally did. And it took over two hours from arriving until actually being able to leave with the car!

It was totally ridiculous and honestly, this car was a huge deal to me and the handover ruined the excitement and the experience completely. Not even any freebies, nothing, just the full tank of petrol which is standard anyway. It wouldn’t have been so frustrating if this was the norm, but I’d seen that other OPCs have the car indoors, under a cover, roped off, a sign next to it, freebies etc etc etc. I expected something similar, and I honestly don’t know what the hell my salesman was talking about when he said the handover would be one to remember!! It was, but for all the wrong reasons.

I love the car, but I’ll be ordering my next one from a different OPC.

That was so bad and I feel sorry for you and if I may ask which OPC?

You'll receive a questionnaire from Porsche in a couple of weeks so make sure you let them know what a terrible handover you experienced

That's so awful - sorry to hear that. I've been waiting for ages and absolutely cannot wait for the handover - I know I'd be absolutely gutted if it was a non-event like this.

It was the Aberdeen OPC. I don’t know if it was because I collected the car between Christmas and New Year so maybe they weren’t on top form those couple of days, but still. You’d think they would know that picking up a Porsche is a massive deal to most of their customers, and would treat the day as such.. But I guess not!

Yeah, I got the questionnaire and gave them my honest feedback about the handover, and my original salesman did send me an email apologising for the lacklustre experience. But still, it’s put me off using the Aberdeen OPC in future as I would hate for the same thing to happen again! Will likely use Glasgow or Edinburgh for future cars.

I am still waiting for my delivery date, ordered in December. The whole experience of buying a new Porsche has been uninspiring, at best. From first enquiry, to test driving, to ordering, to asking for an update - all poor. At every stage I have felt like there is something or someone more important than me that the salesman has wanted to get off to. It just sort of takes the sparkle off. I hope collection is better.

Honestly, I couldn’t sleep for days leading up to the handover because I was so excited, but once I saw the car left dumped outside, I just wanted to get in it and leave. I really was and still am gutted, and it’s been two months! Totally left a sour taste in my mouth for that OPC.

Same here, this is exactly what I've experienced and felt throughout. I thought maybe it was because it's a new dealership maybe. Before I'd bought a Porsche (first time buyer of both the brand, and of buying a brand new car) people were telling me I'd be wow'd by how superior the service was, and the sales process is an experience in itself and that's worth buying new.

However, compared to what I've experienced at Jaguar/Landrover, Mercedes and Audi etc it's actually quite the opposite.

I have bought a number of cars from OPC and have always had a great experience - with one exception with a dealer just off the A3 ! Got my 718 BGTS at beginnng f Feb from Mid Sussex and again their delivery ( and sales process throughout) was topclassGuess it all depends on which OPC/ Salesman you deal with. I agree it shouldn't be like that though they should have to class standards throughput the network

I'm awaiting my new Cayman which is due late next month after a slight hold up in production, existing one will be PX'd

Only a daily but the 2lt is a great car and sounds fantastic from outside but inside is rubbish!
