GT3 change.....to what?
Discussion
Just trying to figure out what I would change my 997.1 GT3 for and I am struggling to think of anything!
To those of you who have lived and loved, what did you change to after selling your GT3?
Did you regret the move and did you ever go back to a GT3?
Current contender is a new 991.2 GT3 with a manual gearbox......but that will involve spending another £50k and I'm not sure it will be worth it!
As a side note, anyone know where I can get a Guards LSD from? I am really struggling to find a supplier

I went from a 97.1 GT3 to an F430 a Scuderia then eventually to a V12 Vantage, never looked back and would never return to a 97.1 GT3, however a 91.2 GT3...tempting, it would have to be really something to get me out of the V12V though as I'm still totally in love with it...

The F430 does seem like a great upgrade. I thought about getting a V12 Vantage but got shouted at by the dealer in the showroom! Edited by kbooker on Wednesday 31st August 16:47
I'd say it depends what you use the car for.
mainly road or track use ?
I've had the same dilemma ;
did a lot of track stuff (996GT3 & 997 Cup), got jaded, so went the other way and bought a Panamera Turbo; loved it for a few years
but the track bug bit again and I'm now back in a 991 GT3 !
The fragility of the 'higher' supercars (ferrari etc) worries me.
I can't see them taking the pounding a GT3 does -or maybe I'm wrong ?

I'd like to say yes but in reality I got embarrassed and walked off....and was then livid when I got home red997 said:

Not true of the 458. Ive done 16000 miles in my 458 Spider, most of that hard driving around the Alps. Not a single problem in 2 years. 7 years free servicing, 4 year warranty. I only got a 2 year warranty on my Porsches.I can't see them taking the pounding a GT3 does -or maybe I'm wrong ?

If you want a sports car with a little personality I'm sure that there are others that may fit the bill. If you want a road registered GT racing car that will never stop challenging and rewarding, I'd keep what you've got.
+1(unless you can keep the GT3 and afford to buy the new car, try it, realise you don't like it, and sell it again!)

Then definitely take a test drive in a V12V, I'd recommend trying to find one with lightweight bucket seats, I find them so much more comfortable than the standard fit seats that I had in a previous V8. Grange in Brentwood Essex have always been great, they've never once shouted at me....Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
