^^Same here, there was something emotional about the flat six Boxster, had a 987 2.7,drove it all over Europe, thrashed it down the autobahns, howled through the Alps and top down in Maranello, then a big mistake,I sold it...regret it everyday and even tried to buy it back,no car has ever got under my skin quite like the little Boxster,or 'Buddie' as I called him!

I wonder if a 718 would have the same effect..?

Our 2006 Boxster S outside a friend's apartment in Düsseldorf the day after we collected it from the factory in Zuffenhausen

I think the 987 boxster is going to become a very desirable little car, I absolutely love my S,
Sports exhaust completes it for me

Looks like graphite blue in the background.

Nice looking steed in the foreground - is that carrara white?

Royal Navy grey in the background (Type 45 destroyer HMS Dragon) - car is indeed Carrara white metallic

I've owned my 2.7 from brand new and truly love it - it's the longest I've ever kept a car. I could do with a change.....but..........don't like Jags....would soon be bored of an M2 .......hmmmmm
Biggest car mistake I ever made was parting with our much loved 2006 Boxster S. Bought it new, collected it from Zuffenhausen and drove it all over Europe. After four years and a moment of complete stupidity I traded it in for a new Cayman S PDK. My wife was actually in tears when we walked away from it for the last time.

Sounds like you are equally attached to your 2.7 and if I was you I would think long and hard before parting with it.
Our current Boxster GTS is undoubtedly a far superior car in every way but is not part of the family in the same way as that lovely cobalt blue Boxster S was!
I know what you mean chap.

Me and GF's West Highland White Terrier have had many a blast up to the beautiful North Norfolk Coast for a few days walking, drinking and camping ....sans the GF!!

Regular weekends away with the one you love, in the car you love, can form deep emotional bonds! ;-)

Thank you and sound advice, definitely a keeper! We threw the options list at this car in the knowledge it it is designed to be a keeper. Porsche actually did us a huge favour introducing the 718, the first time they've introduced a new model that I've no interest whatsoever in buying!

Is that a real dog Frank or a battery operated one?

Reason I ask is that you have a Cayman not a Cayenne!

Ha...that is a real dog safely attached to a RAC approved dog box that straps to the seat meaning she can't run around the car with dirty pads.

I should get a bigger one for the GF!

As per my earlier posts in this thread I've been out filming a back to back comparison/review of these two today. I'll be editing the video together tomorrow and uploading it.

And no, I didn't think the 718 sounded crap, as you'll see in the video.

Did I read on here, someone posting that the 718 looks so much more 'Porsche' than the 981?

Still can't see it myself?

Aesthetics wise, it's no more than a facelift. Having said that, aesthetics wise, a facelift in Porche's world is an entire new model.

The average person who isn't a massive car fan would struggle to separate the two in terms of appearance frankly.

Nothing wrong with that. Great looking car(s).

I think what happened here in the last 20 years a little genetic play from speedy-gentle 550 to angry-beast 718! hehe
