997 Turbo Gen II v Turbo S
Discussion
Definitely go for the Turbo S given the choice between standard and the S.
More bhp, more torque- continuous 516 lb ft (not just overboost like the standard turbo) you can feel it higher up the rev range too. The exhaust note is also a bit better mid range, in addition to PCCB- which are superb and I can highly recommend, and generally the S cars seem to have a better spec so if buying used it's something to consider.
It's also the run out 997 Turbo only in production from 2010-2012, far less made (only 2000 worldwide according to Porsche) so long term would hold up a bit better as stated and be the more desirable car for sure.

I have an S, and can vouch for its ferociousness; it is still the quickest production 911 ever made^..
Bought it in June this year; a low mileage GT Silver w/ Black Leather spec.. However, I was a bit disappointed with the Exhaust Note, until I stuck a Sharkwerks unit on it.. That. Makes. A Difference..
Haven't taken it across the Water yet, but a few trips are planned for 2017.. Le Mans, Long Way to Monaco etc.
