As above.

He is, as ever, right.

I brought an 986S in the early summer. Less than £3K, but I knew that this figure was just the beginning (I had a 2002 996 and did 30k miles in a year in 2011-12).

I took to a specialist and whilst structurally and mechanically it's basically sound, there was a lot wrong elsewhere (which I knew when I brought it); radiators, clutch, flywheel, suspension and various other bits and pieces. The garage and I agreed a compromise at around the £5K mark - and this was to get it in good road going condition so that I could enjoy until I had moved house and I had the space, and I hoped the time, to do some of the tinkering and fettling, myself (I know, please everyone else don't tell me how easy the rads are to do or the suspension etcetcetc -at the time I didn't have the time or the space, but I do now and that was one of the points of the purchase and there's plenty more that 'needs' doing).

Now I brought this 986 knowing what I was letting myself in for but, in truth, it's been worth every penny (even at £8K), but the old saying of 'buyer beware' is never more apt than when buying a Porsche from the year 2000.......(or there abouts..)
