Hi there
I'm close to lockdown( I hope) and have spec'd a 718 Cayman in graphite blue with crayon and black leather carrera classic wheels etc and the trim in carbon and the multi function steering wheel
However my girlfriend who has an artistic eye says the wood is a contrast with the black and white and will look a lot better than the blending in carbon
I must admit the wood looks classy and maybe for a Rolls or Bentley or older bloke but it still makes the car " different"
The OPC salesman has said its not a great idea but I keep considering it
I would value other people's input on it
Thanks

Firstly you should always spec a car for yourself. If you like it go for it!

Personally I don't know why but German cars just don't look right with wood....they just don't seem to execute it very well IMHO. And I really don't think it would be right with a Porsche....you don't even see wooden interiors in Panamera's or Cayenne's.

On a Porsche sports car I think it would look quite of of place and be expensive when you come to sell the car.

I just did it on the configurator in your specs. The wood doesnt look good to me, maybe if it was black but the mahogany looks out of place in a modern interior

OP, are you familiar with the term "whipped" ? smile
I suggest you politely (but firmly) tell your O/H to stick to choosing soft furnishings, handbags, clothes and shoes. Speccing car interiors is a blokes job, always has been, always will be.
Failing this, you may have to resort to doing what the previous poster suggested. eek

and probably undesirable. Wood is for Bentley's and Rolls Royce's IMHO

Like this?

I actually rather like it, though in truth I like black, black, black for the interior. Graphite Blue is what I've gone for though.

But, it is your choice, and you have decide if you agree with your gf, or if not, then will it still be the right choice for you as a couple.

Spec what YOU like. However, you asked for an opinion and therefore, it's a no from me. No, nada, not ever.

My pick would be leather, standard and then aluminium in that order with crayon/black or crayon/graphite.

I think the wood option is more popular in other markets for a certain demographic but in my humble opinion, it does not belong in a sports car and certainly not a Porsche. Ask me in other 30-40 years and it might be a different answer but I'll probably be senile and wet myself on a regular basis by then and my opinion would be invalid.

Buy if you like it and it will keep the missus on side.

Then start saving however much it will cost to have all the wooden bits wrapped or painted, so that you can sell it at some stage.

Just not a look for a modern sports car.

Yes to wood. Yes to bright colours and to being different.
Too many boring cars which goes for sale quickly after purchase.

Theres something I don't hate about it...but I think if I had to choose wood, I would want the upper leather in a chocolate/cocoa brown and not black. black and brown together don't work for me.

Can you spec body colour instead? (Not played with the configurator enough). Might look good with the carbon/wood bits as body colour.
