Just read the same on Autocar

From what I've read on here I thought the 4.0 wouldn't fit in the 718.

I guess it could be possible as a final goodbye to the bespoke mid-engined Porsche platform before everything gets shared across the VW Group e.g. Audi R6. Demand would be immense, similar to the 911R I would think.
We would need to see testing mules pretty soon though for it to be a reality.

If it's 430, why not just tune the existing engine. The transmission modifications that Sharkwerks have put together seem more than adequate to address gearing, LSD and so on. Add a map. Done.
It's like an arms race, at this rate, we'll have a GT2 RS at 850 and the 918 will get a midlife face lift!

If this is true and 500+bhp it will be the best Porsche ever, hopefully it won't be an Unobtainium car that lots of driving enthusiasts can buy use and enjoy.
If Porsche do decide to do a GT4RS (IMO I doubt it - based on AP's comments) - Porsche will first invite GT3/GT3RS OPC buyers & then current GT4 OPC buyers. You would have had to have bought a Porsche halo car from an OPC first to stand a chance.Steve Rance said:
I'ts likely that There will be a GT4RS. There will be updates that will require homologation
Do the latest series still require the same level of homologation there used to be in the past? My understanding (could be incorrect) was that the link to road homologation had been reduced thereby allowing manufacturers like Porsche to run somewhat different race and road carsAndrew911 said:

You only have to look at how many gt3 rs cars are for sale and silly amounts of gt4 cars. It would great to see true enthusiasts getting a chance to own and use them as designed. I for one would use it if I had the opertunity to own one for new.
I would adore one.
The CR was good.
The GT4 was even better and I have learnt so much in the trackday journey ...
A GT4RS could be just the thing with which to have a serious play with the current 991GT3RS on a bumpy circuit such as Zandvoort --- or Knock hill ?
Evolution rules ! The learning is in the journey

Not in GT4 which needs to be close to the road going cars , hence need to homologate , the mid engined GT3 is in GTE the works racer category
