Never understood the attraction myself but different strokes for different folks.
I was in a black cab going up Park Lane, Mayfair one day, and as we approached Marble Arch the driver said, "'ere mate, get on that thing in front."
I looked up, and there was some kind of a 4x4 plated B15 UN, the 5 had been doctored to look like a G, so BIG UN.
The driver said, "He might as well have a bumper sticker, saying, "Not only am I a prat, I want everyone to know it."

I got V3 BXR from DVLA for £250 for my 981BS - anyone think it would be worth more (V3 as in version three of the Boxster)?

Why does every thread in the Porsche section somehow find its way back to resale value?!! rofl

If the OP is interested in DVLA auctions, the online or 'timed' auction is running at the moment and runs until next Wed.
Next real auction is c. 20th of Feb. In Chesterfield. Better plates seem to be in the 'real' auction... cheaper ones in the online auction.

Not the car (I'm keeping that!) - the plate!

I have a cherished number on my Boxster. It cam on an Audi TT I bought about 16 years ago. 519 BCR. Just hung on to it really. Would never buy one.

As an aside, an old employer of mine had this on his Ferrari a few years ago. B16 NOB. He was, and I doubt he had one.

I have one in Blue Celeste with 12k miles - its basically new. For 5+ years now its been stuck in a barn behind a several other cars - all in Airchambers. Its on a trickle charger and I start it up every few months...old fuel doesn't seem to be a problem!

Great fun, you should drive it in the summer.

I'm not sure you are right. From talking to a PEC instructor, I get the impression that some other drivers do react aggressively to Porsches. Personally I have found the opposite. Is that because my car is black and the number is nondescript?

For me it's an age thing! Far easier to remember a non dating private plate in the early stages of Alzheimers than one of the new multi digit ones - even better that you don't have to learn another one when you change cars.....bought an 09 Phaeton in July to run the family around in and still haven't a clue what the reg is!

The first world problem I've got is that it means moving 5 cars and 5 air chambers out of barn to then get the 2CV out. It must be a wind free day or, as I live on a high point in North Norfolk, the air chambers will end up in the North Sea! Never seem to get combination of sun out, no wind, being at home with a friend to give me a hand!

Agree with a lot of previous comments on here, the shorter the plate the better but PLEASE if you go less digits shorten the plates size as it looks far better....

I'd never bought one before or really wanted one, but something came up which matches my nickname / handle and wasn't too pricey so went for it. Got them on the car this morning.
