Hi everyone as the thread states will there actually be a gen 2 gt3 RS. I've been thinking hard about the lifespan for the rest of the 991 generation of cars and although a gen 2 gt3 is about to be launched there is the run out gt2 RS coming sometime next year. Now my reasoning for my question is beacause of several factors that possibly have some merit and these are:-
  • 991 R came out that was a departure from any other generation
  • numbers of current gt3 RS are considered to be quite a lot higher than in previous generations possibly covering a generation step to .2 version
  • timescale with gt2 RS slated for next year as last car before 992 and would a gen 2 gt3 RS step on it toes in such short timescale
  • it would take some serious development to make a gen 2 gt3 RS that made a real difference in looks and performance to current car (similar to gen 1 997 to gen 2 997)
  • it seems that a regular gt2 will be skipped this generation so is it that unlikely that just a single atmospheric gt3 RS this generation is possible
  • current gt3 RS came out late because of regular cars problems and therefore has really squashed the timing for release between cars

These are just some thoughts and I know people will have views on this. I just think that it's areal possibility that it could be true. Thanks again

It is all very confusing I agree and no one knows for sure but i don't think the '911T' car will be made now but perhaps for the future which would make sense now that we have a 911R. I would love to see this line followed!
I was told by by someone who has a good feed into Porsche that the next GT3RS as in the 991 gen 2 could well com with a manual gearbox option due to the fact that they need to differentiate it from the last one.
They can't add a lot more power as the engine is at about max and what with all the tech and rear wheel steering that the Gen 1 has, there is little to differentiate it hence a manual gearbox would do that.

Makes sense I suppose.

I would agree with this, ie, lets make the next one a bit slower by "din't" of a MT. Makes perfect sense.......Lol

Imagine the scramble for what could be the last N/A 911 GT3RS and with an MT !

Pistonheads might well crash!

Particularly since most seem to be looked at rather than driven --- which we all understand for a classic but ?

The miles will creep up over the years though. People who buy these things don't in most cases have the time to use them a lot. I for one have only done 1500 miles in may 911 since Sept as I've been too busy to use it.
Believe me, if I had the time, I would have put 10k miles on it living close to some of the best roads in Wales.

I put 4000 miles on my GT4 in 5 months but thats because I forgot about work which was a bad idea because it probably cost me a fair amount of money!
If I get a GT3 I will try to use it as much as possible but it will still be used just occasionally.

There won't be a manual 'GT3' offered. Perhaps a dumbed down version, but not with a GT3 moniker.

Interesting and not at all what I think. So you reckon that they engineered the 6 speed manual box just for the 911R?!

So where did you hear that its not going to have a manual then? You seem pretty certain?
