Are the standard dampers much worse than the adaptive or is it that they are just preferable? I am coming from a mini jcw on run flats so I am expecting an improvement!
My wife had two Mini Cooper S's in the past. I have driven them lots. Very stiff, lots of torque steer. We loved them. You will find the 981 even with standard suspension and big wheels way less stiff than the JCW and very nice to drive. I have had a Boxster S with PASM, I preferred driving it in sport mode as it was slightly stiffer. It would not put me off buying a standard setup car as I have had a few on loan when servicing etc. Porsche has the suspension pretty well sorted but do drive the car before buying if you are not sure.

Pasm or not these cars even on 20s ride very well, aesthetically it looks better with pasm and it's nice to have the option to adjust. The mileage and the base seats are bigger issues in my opinion.
