Your ears aren't broken they're just different from mine. My test drive, where I really tried to convince myself the 718s they were offering me at a good discount was great failed on two counts; mostly the turbo lag. But it was totally killed off when I sat at some lights next to a 10yr old Vectra with a big bore exhaust and both cars sounded the same. £68,000 to sound like a souped up vectra with a sense of disconnection from the throttle. I've got other ways to spend my cash.
But if you like it then brilliant! hopefully people will stop finding the old ones at all appealing, especially the BGTS. But please let that happen soon, it's nearly summer.
Recent posts have focussed on noise (which I don't like either), but, like you, turbo lag was the key issue for me.But if you like it then brilliant! hopefully people will stop finding the old ones at all appealing, especially the BGTS. But please let that happen soon, it's nearly summer.

Yes. I've spoken to quite a few OPC, and all said "we're sorry there's no discount for cars which are even difficult to buy".
Best APR i've found so far is 6.4% which i think is just a standard for new Porsche.
I think you'll find if you push they have access to 5.9% APRBest APR i've found so far is 6.4% which i think is just a standard for new Porsche.

Thank you. I will try again although i am a bit shy to ask for discounts lol. 5.9% APR is what others in the forum are getting? They'll show you the same rate on their system

Now there's an interesting question. Best sounding cross-plane V8 of all time for me? Probably a TVR Griffith, maybe Chimaera. Best sounding flat plane V8 of all time? Probably Judd EV, but DFV is another classic. Totally different sounding, but I just don't know how anyone can't think they both sound great.

I worked with a Chimaera owner and he was always going on about the flat plane crank. Do I need to tell him it was actually cross plane?Liam

I'm pretty sure the Chimaera and Griffith only used variants of the Rover V8 which had a cross plane crank. The later Cerbera had the AJP8 engine which had a flat plane crank.I had a Boxster 718S with PSE for a day and drove it very fast and hard. It was absolutely brilliant. Super sharp steering and bloody fast. When I say fast, I mean it was wheel spinning at 50mph with traction off, in the wet and was quite incredible.
I then took it back to Porsche and drove a 981S Cayman up the road for a couple of miles and gave it a small spin. The steering was not as quick and the car felt a little less agile and certainly not as fast.
My decision was made. I bought a 981S Boxster with PSE just so I could hear that glorious noise and enjoy wringing the car out to the redline at every opportunity. The 718S just sounded like a hugely loud fart in comparison.

Sounds better on the move, but it's an acquired taste in noise. Still, some love Ducati...
Some like (adore) the sound of a racing air-cooled two stroke kart - and there was much beating of breasts when water cooling might be mandated or (worse still) they might be replaced by four-strokes. Personally I think they sound truly dreadful - and I've spent literally hundreds of days at kart tracks.I definitely think that, for some, a highly tuned racing engine defines what an engine SHOULD sound like. Personally, I think most racing engines make a dreadful din - particularly if you share a garage with them.
Drove a 718 S last week on loan for 2 days as they were trying to push me into that from my current 981 GTS. Quick car but that noise is so dull, actually made me drive slower as it sounded better at low revs. Handed it back to dealer and he asked me what I thought, all I said was 'that noise', he just looked at me and said 'I know'. They know it's crap
