I've seen a Halda bracket which replaces the glove box lid. Looks good but I'm not that it would be great in the event of an off.

I can sort out a link if you are bothered? They also make a weld in (bolt in available) harness bar which straddles the rear suspension towers at the level of the load deck, that includes a spare wheel pole, which particularly caught my eye.

Thanks Simon but I'm pretty committed to Brantz now, what with the tripmeter, sensors etc. Halda are formidably expensive too, look great though.

The harnesses are onto the cage so no bar needed ta.

Sorry Ben, I meant 'Halda' as opposed to a Halda-specific fitment. Its a generic trip meter mounting solution. hehe

Gotcha. Thought you meant these

http://www.donbarrow.co.uk/halda_haldas_tripmeters...

One day I'll have one and a Heuer Monte Carlo twin set.

Ive got a Monte Carlo. Brand new, old stock. I keep it in a safe and it hasn't ever actually been inside a car... biggrin

I've long-since stopped trying to get an original Halda as they're so expensive. A Brantz Retrotrip will have to suffice...

Simon, what a waste, needs to be peppered in gravel and spit from a navigator's mouth. Get it out there!

Much underrated but istr that they struggled with not being intercooler, unlike the Carrera GT.

I am tempted by he thought of one for CSCC Future Classics, where I could fit an intercooler and engine management and still be within the rules.
Sorry that I missed this Andy. You only need to look at Steve Cooper's car to see what can be done, but it also shows what can go wrong, too.

Got it, thanks. I'm not on the Facebook.

Have emailed asking for price and availability of the wheel mount/strut bar, adjustable top mounts and underfloor protection. Should be interesting.

Id only asked for a price for the bar and it was surprisingly cheap. He offered to make it bolt-on instead of weld-on if I needed, too.

I can't recall the exact price, but I think that it was £120(!).

That's not bad if it's built nicely. Hard to see the welds on the photo as they're under the carpet!

Do you think those top mounts are the Eastern Bloc made ones that eBay chancers are importing?

Theyre compromised, wherever theyre from. Without an adjustable spring seat theyll lift the front of your car.

Just had a reply from those dudes.

Topmounts - £150 for a pair and they're in stock.

Rear brace & wheel dooberry - £125 for weld in item with single harness eye per side £135, double per side (as per pic above) £155. Optional tie strap for wheel is £40.

Sump and fuel pump guard £250 and £95 respectively.

An update here because, as usual, things are starting to get out of hand smile

I bought a pallet load of stuff. And I do mean a pallet load. Here it is delivered to Talkwrench's workshop. I've blanked out his eyes so he looks like Andy McNab off of the SAS.

Inside the pallet is stuff.

That stuff is, amongst other things:

An complete 80,000 mile 2.5 engine with all ancillaries
A lightweight composite front bumper
3 x fuel pressure regulators
2 x fuel rails
3 x AFMs
2 x Throttle Bodies
2 x exhaust manifolds
1 x intake manifold
Misc other bits

Michael is about to order me my own special engine prep workstation for the workshop and we're going to do something special. At present the general idea is:

Head gas flowed and ported
Bigger valves and uprated springs
Lightweight pistons and conrods
Lairy high lift cam and associate gubbins
Crank shaved, lightened and reprofiled
Exhaust ported
Throttle body ported
Lightweight flywheel
Bespoke 4 branch manifold
Baffled sump

This is all going to be done off the car so all the above work will continue and we'll hopefully drop this in at some point in the summer and see what it chucks out. I'm obviously hoping for 8 million bhp.

I hope it works, but I wouldn't be surprised if it peaks at about 185bhp unless you remove the inlet manifold and the associated restrictions and handicaps.

With straight fat inlet tracts and MAP sensing itll produce far more power. Expensive of course, but probably not expensive in this context (this particular engine or the car in general).
