I'm in the process of sorting one at the minute; I never thought I say this about a 924, but they really are great little cars.

After a lifetime of wanting one of these cars and watching the values steadily rise, I bought this car at the Silverstone auction in November. I took a chance and bought it without seeing it. I worked on the basis, a car which had had £20k spent on it in the last 12 months would be reasonably well sorted. After some unexpected additional auction costs, I eventually got it home. Bad start, battery flat. Eventually got it started but running really badly. Also a few leaks plus a few problems mastering the gearbox and clutch pedal. Off to a local specialist who sorted the leaks and poor running and is now trying to source some parts for the gearbox. Although contemporary roads tests said the gear change was challenging, this can't be normal and it pretty much takes two hands to get first and a 50/50 chance of a crunch when going from third to second.

What I like: the looks, the rarity, the fact that most people don't know what it is, the condition (£13k paint job!), the history/provenance, the performance (great when the turbo kicks in and feels much faster than the Integrale & E30 M3 I've just sold), the rear arches, the bonnet scoop, the Fuch alloys and it looks like a racing car !

What I don't like: seating position, lack of steering column adjustment, the clutch pedal travel, the dog leg box and the lack of power steering, all of which I'm sure I'll get used to.

All in all, really pleased with my purchase and looking forward to putting some miles on it in 2018 including a 1500 round trip to the Nurburgring in September.......

There was a silver one at the Curborough boxing day breakfast meet yesterday. It went out on track for a gentle lap too. I didnt know they existed till yesterday!

Congratulations. I had a black one 2007 to 2010 and started 924gt.com to get more information out about them. You'll get used to the dog leg gearbox and eventually grow to like it. Synchros on the first and second gears are notoriously bad.

My car had spacers to raise the driving seat. I agree it's not the best. A steering wheel spacer also helps but still not ideal, and it would definitely benefit from PAS. If I had another I would convert it no question.

The turbo power delivery was a giggle and turbo lag was never really a problem. Mine did Goodwood, the Nurburgring, Snetterton, Bedford and Donington and didn't try to kill me once. The only real issue was engine temp running high.

I remember talking to Ricky Caesar at a Porsche club meet around 2008 and laughing when he said he thought one day the 924GT might be a twenty grand car. It took me a year to sell mine, including trying Coys. I'd have to beat people off with a stick now.

Yip, same one, that's why I revived the thread. Will add some photos soon but here's one from the auction advert.

Good shout re spacers on seat / steering wheel - might give this a try. Going to live with the non-pas for a while - it's only at parking speeds where it's an issue but pleased to learn it's a common problem / trait. Had a 924s many years ago, don't recall that being an issue - maybe they had PAS ? Needs the butt cushion re trimmed on the passenger side (probably swapped from drivers side at some point) so the seat will be coming out tomorrow. Southbound seems to be the place for this kinda stuff.

Took it for a blast today before the snow comes - feels much faster than 210 BHP, certainly more fun.....!
