2016 Cayenne & French Tele-Peage

We bought a 2016 Cayenne S Diesel last week and drove down to South of France Friday/Saturday. Great drive and really impressed with the car.
As we travel to France a lot we have a Tele-Peage account, so no need to take tickets etc., on the Autoroutes. However, at the first Peage we hit a problem with the "transponder" not working. The unit had been working fine in June, so we thought maybe it had packed up. Saturday found a "Vinci" office open and changed the unit, but problem still there. Only works if you hold the transponder out of the window.
Wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

No experience with the french tolls but in my 2016 S I had no problems with any other type of equipment (GPS etc). I can only assume it is something with the type of signal the French system uses that is not compatible with the windscreen in the Cayenne.

Porsche UK have advised that we have a heated screen and that there is an area below the rear view mirror specifically for this purpose. Hissing with rain here at the moment but as soon as it stops will check it out.

Yes i had a problem with mine early in June this year on same car. Tag was only around 3 yrs old and their web site said battery should be ok but to be fair it wasn’t great when waved out of the window either so booked a new whilst in France as wanted it to be reliable on Le Mans trip which it was and worked perfectly in my 911 so thought it must have been the battery.

We have a similar issue with our transponder in an XC90. Volvo advise to use the area of the screen behind the rear-view mirror, that has little black dots on it.....however it still fails most times. Resulting in my wife desperately waving it out the window, while French motorists shout at us (incorrectly assuming we dont have a tag).
One thing I have found is that you have to go right up to the barrier (inches off it) for the toll to pick up the tag. Its always a relief when the tag beeps......

UPDATE: Finally been up to the autoroute and tried the transponder in the marked area below rear view mirror and seems to work fine, but as already advised, car needs to be very close to the barrier. May still call in to Porsche Antibes and see what they suggest.

I have a 2016 S diesel. Used my tag frequently sincevI bought the car new. I do not have the heated screen option.
The tag works fine, even through the rolling 30kph lane. I do find at some toll booths I have to be right up to the barrier before it beeps, but this is random not every booth.
My tag is Sanef. Also have a Spanish tag which also works fine. They also both work in my Boxster.

Have now been able to try in the 30 kms rolling lane and seems to work, but as already said gets pretty close to the barrier before beeping.

Out of interest does anyone use a trickle charger on their Cayenne ? We are going to be away for around 4 weeks and don't want to get back to a flat battery. I already have the Porsche battery conditioner with cigar lighter fitting for my 993 but not sure if this will work in the Cayenne.
