Great news. What is still disappointing for me though is:

a) the time and hassle many OPCs put their customers through with untenable , ridiculous and unhelpful positions they take on warranty claims

b) that they continue to be ignorant about the nature of what an extended warranty on their customers Porsches are

c) and finally that many OPCs will continue to be unhelpful with similar claims on Panamera in the future although many OPCs read these boards and know they'll have their butts politely handed to them in a FOS complaint
My wife’s two year old Macan rear window stopped working , although you could hear the motor working.

The chew to get it fixed under warranty was unreal.

They wanted to charge a £100 diagnostic fee for starters , then claimed water could have got in the switch on the driver’s door and that wouldn’t be covered by warranty.

When I mentioned the actual door switch didn’t operate it either , they then said water could have got in two separate door switches.

They couldn’t have done more to stop a warranty claim if they’d tried.

Then it took them three days to sort it…….

Hard to forget the way the way OPC Hatfield tried it on with me a decade ago and tried to fob me off for 5 months with complete bs on my blown mezger turbo engine. It was amusing watching them back peddle and do a triple salchow a few weeks after the FOS complaint went in. They were awful and a brick wall for 5 months.

Sad they continue to be difficult with Porsche owners.

Having said that though for balance they have been brill with my other half and her turbo s running an after market sports exhaust on hers when she's had turbo issues.....they could have easily blamed exhaust. Hatfield now have some younger faces in service with a completely different attitude. I still use Reading!

The Porsche warranty doesn’t seem to be what it used to be. On previous Panameras I had a leaking PDCC reservoir replaced, a loose speaker cover repaired and also bushes replaced at the front.

My current car (2019 Turbo) now has creaking front suspension for the first 10-15 minutes after setting off on cold mornings and a rattling seat back in the front passenger seat. This is 4k miles and less than a year following purchase. My OPC claim this can’t be covered under warranty and the bill is £3.5k for the front top mount and bush and another £2.5k for a replacement seat frame. My OPC is also owned by Porsche GB, not sure whether they tend to be better or worse at these things but it’s enough to put me off the brand. For several years, I had great treatment and everything got fixed without any quibbling, but the Porsche warranty no longer appears to be worth very much.

Did you buy the car from an OPC? If not I think you're in difficult territory as they are wear and tear issues. The car is 5 years old after all.

I did indeed - one of the Porsche group OPCs. Slightly oddly, I sold the car to them and bought it back 4 months later for quite a bit less than they paid me. Suspect I won’t get much goodwill after that but I’ve bought 4 cars from them previously.

I’m pretty much resigned to having to pay to sort the car out but if anything, I’d look to get it done at a specialist with OEM parts. £6k seems quite a bit to sort out the two issues, albeit the suspension requires a full alignment as part of the process. I have my doubts about the seat, the rattling goes away when I hold the front passenger seat, so I’m inclined to believe it’s just a loose part.

I think if you bought from an OPC its worth raising both issues and escalating to Porsche GB if you do not get anywhere. If no luck I'd put a FOS complaint in and see where you get its so easy to do. Certainly a seat should not be rattling in a £100k Porsche for the life of the car. Top mounts might be more tricky and they seem to be an issue in every model almost like a consumable. Again though 4000 miles from purchase I think you may have a decent claim. £6k a horrible bill.

Thanks for your advice, I hadn’t thought about the FOS but re-reading this thread, that might get the right result. I escalated it to Porsche GB a couple of weeks ago and they said they will look into it. I think the suspension issues could also relate to the sway arms and bushes (seems like a common problem on Panameras, even with much lower mileage) but the seat issue isn’t excusable and feels more like a defect.

Just in case this helps anyone else, I spoke to JZM this morning and they confirmed that there are two Porsche bulletins out for the creaking suspensions issues, they are:

- SY401550 - rubber mounting & upper trailing arm
- SY402056 - replace hydraulic mounts

I have emailed these to the OPC I'm using and asked them to check with their warranty team. I'll drop an update when I hear more but it's disappointing to hear that Porsche has a fix for the issues I've got, yet hasn't appeared to offer it.
