Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo

Hey,
I have had various BMW over the years and never thought of Porsche as an option, since I could not afford two cars. However if I can get 4 seater that is also a Porsche and the price is not £100K, I'm now considering this as an option.
I'm interested in knowing how much the running costs are annually. Service, parts, any major repairs ?
How about insurance, it must be high ? Am I better off getting a multi car insurance that covers since we have 2 cars in the household ?

Search for Porsche Panamera Buyers Guides online, Pistonheads have two articles for the 970 & 971 generations so should give you some idea.
Regarding insurance, really depends what sort of cover you are after. If you can find a good specialist then your running costs will be significantly cheaper than a main dealer. But if you want the Porsche warranty then you'll be tied into the main dealer for servicing & maintenance.

Having run insurance quotes, I've found Porsche to be cheaper than BMW. With the same parameters, a 911 was half the cost of an M3. Panamera was about the same as an 8 series but 1/3 less than an M5 or X5.
Re running, I'd want to run the Porsche warranty, particularly on a hybrid. This means OPC servicing and I've seen some very punchy service bills for Panamera, particularly when you start to get to adding braking etc. I can't help thinking that to maintain the warranty you will be "advised" to replace wear and tear parts far quicker at Porsche. Just a feeling.
I understand they also wear through tyres at a far greater rate than a BMW. I got 40k out of my last set on a 640d. A bit of research suggests 20k would be very lucky on a Panamera.
However, that's the price for running what is a very luxurious, big, expensive car.

The 4 and 4S will cost less than the turbo for stuff like brakes when they need replacing (discs and pads on my Turbo were £2.5k for the front and £2.7k for the back - rear axle is more work apparently). Servicing seems to be c. £8-900 for a minor, £1.5k for a major. The advertised rates for the services are one thing but invariably there are always some extra jobs to cover at the same time. I don’t know how insurance compares between 4, 4S and Turbo but as far as running costs go, I suspect fuel consumption will be quite similar across the range. The 6 cylinders are surprisingly thirsty and the V8 unexpectedly frugal, particularly on long journeys.
Regarding the warranty, my car is at my local OPC to deal with two problems; one being a rattling seat back on the passenger seat and the other is creaking front suspension, apparently due to a worn top mount / top bush. I have the warranty but neither item is covered. In 9 years of different Panamera ownership, I’ve never had a warranty niggle (it’s covered leaking PDCC reservoirs, broken A/C parts and a few other things) - my issues are deemed wear and tear, a bit frustrating but not altogether unexpected. Personally, I wouldn’t run any prestige car without a warranty, they’re all pretty complicated and expensive when they inevitably go wrong.
Just for what it’s worth, the 4S is a huge step up from a 4; lots more power and a smoother, more responsive engine.

I think I prefer the 971, Panamera 4S Sports Turismo - I think this would give me a good balance and from all advice received I think I will buy from dealer with warranty. Seems safest option albeit being a bit more expensive.
Just need a bit more time to save money up and then I will start looking :-)
