I’ve just placed a deposit on a Cayenne S Diesel, and would be interested if anyone has advice in terms of checking it over at point of collection/delivery ?

Also just wondering if anyone knows the car, the registration is WD17DUJ.

We used to have a V6 Diesel from the 958 generation many years ago so I know the model a little.

Currently have a 2018 (E3) Cayenne 3.0T which we are trading against the S Diesel. Appreciate it may seem odd to move back to an older model, but I’ve heard very good things about the V8 Diesel.

Also, was the 100L fuel tank an option on the V8 Diesel ?

I have been trying to find a UK price list online but can’t seem to find it.

Any advice or tips would be welcome!

I’ve owned one since new in 2017….have done nearly 145k miles in it. Not going anywhere soon.

I don’t recall there being a fuel tank option. Main issue is the transfer box which if it hasn’t been replaced probably will need doing at some stage. Mine’s been very reliable, there’s been the odd issue but it has done a lot of miles…I have maxed out the warranty on mine so have three years left on it. At approx £1000 a year I think it is very good value for what are expensive cars to work on…yes you can self insure

I’ve probably got the invoice for mine somewhere….the days of price lists are gone I think. All online and disappear into the ether when discontinued !

Thanks Cheib, that’s a glowing endorsement !

I’ve been looking at them for a while, and recall all the reviews being very positive.

Appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Agree on the price list thing

I paid £44k for a 66 plate / 30k miles Diesel S from an OPC in Sept 2019 and traded it back to them in Dec 2020 for £32k (i know, didn’t get my timing quite right on that one, but the Covid year was weird!)

Looks like they are still going for £30k to £35k now

2017 Platinum edition that; nice!

100 litre tank; yes.

I can find the full spec list if you want?

That would be super helpful if you could ? Thank you!

Many of the cars I saw listed didn’t have the 100L fuel tank, and I think 85 will just fine for me.

My dad has the V8 Diesel, also a 2017 one.

It has had some problems with Adblue system, and the transfer box was repaired by Porsche. Otherwise it has been problem free.

It does munch on fuel though, think he gets about 23 out of it, and a little over 30 on a run.

Yep, mine needed a transfer box too. Did about 30 mpg with a decent amount of motorway driving in there. Went through some Tyres too IIRC

Our existing 3.0T (petrol engine) about 20 around town and 30-32 on the motorway. Quite impressive how far tech has come.

These cars are all about the engine…incredibly smooth for a diesel and sounds decent enough too though it is pretty quiet.

I was disappointed in how quiet mine was. It didn’t have sports exhaust though, i understand the pre ad blue models were louder too

I've got a 2017 one as my daily. No doubt it's the best all round car I've ever owned. Superbly comfortable seats, silly quick in the mid range where you need it on the road, 30+ mpg average (I think there must be something wrong with the car quoting 23 above!) Also have warranty but in 3 1/2 years it's been faultless. Definitely a keeper and highly recommended.

I had one for 3 years, took it up to 90,000 miles and it was - in many ways - the best all round car i have ever owned. Things I particularly liked:

18 way adjustable seats
Pan Roof
Air Suspension
Upgraded sound system
and most of all: Performance - it could be a monster when you wanted it to be!

The only thing I had an issue with was at about 75,000 miles the transfer box starting to signal it was going to be a problem (when accelerating hard you could feel something kind of ‘skipping’) which apparently was a sign it would need doing at some point, but mine was out of warranty by then so lived with it for a while and then moved it on.

Still miss it.

Oh yes 18 way seats are fantastic….miles better than what they put in the current cars. Well worth finding one with them.

In case anyone may know the car, it has also been known under the following registrations:
- N15 WRD
- EIW 983
- C1 SBD

Thanks!

Mines a 16 reg bought S/H and I love it to bits. Its had a transfer box, has had leaky pano roof (hate holes cut into car roofs) and recent water ingress on headlight causing bulb and control unit failure all dealt with on extended warranty. I get 26mpg loafing around locally, up to 36 on a long cruise and towing a trailer at 70 it drops to 23 or so on a 100 mile round trip. I can happily live with that.

Sadly the one I’m looking at doesn’t have 18 way seats, but I think the main difference is lack of inflatable bolsters ?
