Yes, RSR. 3.4l with twin spark heads. I know plenty of purists scoff at these "bitsa" cars, but for me, the looks, the noise and the old school driving thrills makes me happy- and that's what its all about, eh?
Yep I have one too that I love - 1983 SC back dated to a 1973 RS LW - has an original 1973 RS MFI engine - just great fun to drive - and £k 300 less than the real thing Looked at that last year too - 'tis a lovely thing

That was a fine effort, well done. (valve supports 965 361 561 00 to finish off a lovely car) I just fitted them to mine, a fiver each.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIHWnWniLi4

So getting really OT, I think that's where the oil temp would be on a cool day after 15 mins driving. I don't think that's "properly up to temp". It may well be fine for a blat - not saying that, but I doubt the oil temp was past 60 degrees for example. I wonder how hot it should be?
Bert
There was a discussion about this on Pelican recently and the consensus was that as soon as the needle was past the first white marker, the oil was properly warmed up and the car could be safely thrashed within an inch of its life.Bert

Didn't even know what they were. I do now. Where did you order those? This is what the valve supports look like when fitted. They are self adhesive and easy to fit so long as you get them lined up properly first time!!

Ive also noticed that some 944's have a slightly different alloy wheel. If you look at the 'dials' on some they are almost flush with the outer rim where as mine are not - this makes a difference as well. Last few of the old blueporky....
This must have spacers if it is a 1986 model year car (theyre 1986 model year wheels)?...There is a difference between 1986 and 1987 telephone dial wheels. The
reason why some are 'dished' and others 'flat' is because 1987 cars all had
ABS fitted as standard. For ABS to be fitted, both the front and rear hubs needed to be re-designed to allow for the sensor and toothed ring.
You can always tell a VERY early 944 Turbo by the wheel offset as I believe the first cars didn't have ABS fitted and the Telephone Design Wheels were very dished to fill the arches.

Yes, I am aware of that. This is why I have identified 1986 and 1987 model year cars. This isn't related to the offset of the wheels (23mm & 52.3mm), it concerns the wheels position within the arches.
That's why I have shown a known original 1986 car as an example of how they should look. If this was a 1987 with 1986 wheels then the wheels would be even more proud of their original position.
Seeing that his has become far more FrontRunner-geeky than I had intended, I will mention that the '86 telephone dials in both pictures have 951 prefixed part numbers, unlike the 944 numbers on the 1987> type, and they were designed to fit over the Turbos Brembo brakes. The car was originally intended to run on 4x 7"x15" wheels.
I have a set in my garage that I am keeping to try on my own late offset Turbo. How it will work on track and how it will look remain to be seen. Widetracked series one 944 racers look extremely purposeful, but whether it will suit a series two car...

So it started like this many years ago...
which I then turned into this...
I then moved on to one of these...
which was lots of fun...
But it was taking a while to build and I got bored so I bought one of these...
I'm trying to find a pic of how it looked when I first got it.. it was/is a 924s Running a 968 Engine and 6spd box, but it was a narrow body car with nasty GRP wings held on with wood screws and gaffa tape until EMC did the CGT conversion and made it look as good as it went.
Then this arrived...
So the 924 had to go....
BUT... I also got another one of these!
Which looked nice with the 993....
But then the 968 had to go... because I had to make room for this...
but thats gone now too, before it burst into flames.!
I've learned that they really don't make them like they used to, which means older = better right? so the older it is the better it is right??
So I'm having one of these...
