What happened to that guy who had a stunning blue 3.2 Carrera shell, 3.8 engine on throttle bodies, rsr bodywork and 993 six speed box?
Think his name was Mateo or something, cant find him on the directory, but remember his car about five years ago at Brands, and he had just finished it.
Without doubt one the prettiest, and most sorted 911's I have set my eyes on. Sound was to die for!!
Sure it was in a few mags or featured on here a few times?
Yep I remember it. Absolutely stunning. Think it may have been a turbo to start with. Just the nuts that car. Must have easily set him back £100k-£150k. I imagine he's still using it as intended - `i know `i wouldn't part with it if I was lucky enough to own it

Well found! Thats the one. Just need someone to drag a few shots over onto P/Heads. I am not registered to photobucket.

Are GT3s really that rare?
yes
Well, the proper ones are. MK1's. wink Just kidding obviously they're all proper ones. Only 103 UK Mk1s, 28 of them Clubsports. The first of its type and very raw. Never going to be as pretty as the pre-impact bumper stuff but apart from looks (which are actually maturing nicely) the GT3 will be better in every single way to the cars linked earlier. Ok, maybe comfort not withstanding.

CobraPaul - I've just realised what car is yours. thumbup Not too dissimilar to my first 911 many moons ago. Also based on an impact bumper car. I always stuck two fingers up to the purists but as I learnt more about the marque and sampled more cars I've gradually come around to the "standard is best" mantra. I still like to see well modified stuff though.

Back on topic that baby blue car on DDK (other thread) is very pretty. If it was RHD I'd be struggling not to let curiosity get the better of me. A deal on a GT3 he says. scratchchin

I've asked whats happening over on IB , last post was jan 2012..
original IB post is thus..
Gentlemen,

my little adventure at Brands last Friday has put me in a difficult situation.... rolleyes

The left hand side of the car is somewhat damaged and both the front and rear wings will need to come off to be fixed.

As I was looking at it yesterday I thought:" Hang on a minute... I could turn this into an opportunity..."

So here is how I see it.

I always liked the RSR look and always considered the 74 RSR as the ultimate expression of the 911 (apart from the 934 but I would need a turbo, a flat fan etc.. .let's not go there....) for me.

I already have the centerlock hubs.... already have he RSR brakes.....

Still it will be a lot of money to do (new bumpers, wings, labour) and performance wise it will NOT be an enhancement (in fact by increasing the frontal area and drag I will probably make it slower). Also tyre availability will be tricky and certainly finding a set of suitable centrelock rims will be difficult.

Here is a little list I made.

PROS:

1) Love the RSR look
2) Have centrelock hubs already
3) The car needs fixing (having it assessed today)

CONTRA:

1) Cost
2) RSR look... on the streets? Are you serious?
3) Wheel availability
4) tyres availability
5) Fiberglass wings vs steel ones
6) Performance

So which one should I go for?

Keep the lovely and proportionate RS look

This is an interesting modified 1979 SC!

Looks fantastic and a lot of work has gone into creating it.

Two of the 3 cars I originally posted on 8th December are still on sale at the sale price. Original cars do seem to sell quicker and often modified cars are hard to value!

That's always been the case since I was first around 911s in the mid-80s. Just look at the volume of traffic on here about values and 'must-have-spec-for-resale' of standard cars compared to modified 911s. Modified cars are by definition a more specialised market and for many owners the journey is probably as important as the destination, so they prefer to build than buy

I saw that earlier and think it looks great, at 33k is that good value or overpriced in people's opinion.
Depends what you're looking for. If you want a viper green car which is backdated and has an RS look (and it checks out on inspection) then it would probably be a good buy. If you want a nice SC it's expensive.
Apparently this sold on ebay for 20k??
I was told by a trader. A lot fibreglass parts etc.

Personally think its over priced sooner buy a nice SC or 3.2 from 18-25k in its standard guise.

The mint car (colour and condition!) was mine, I sold it earlier this year after 5 and half years of loving it. I bonded with it and loved it but times change and I just didn't use it enough. I don't really understand why it's so quickly back on the market but it's a fine thing. My replacement is a much modified '71 car in Gulf Blue.
Rutland who did the Gulf Blue car for you? Stunning looking car. What engine is in it?

Brian at Jasmine. I've gone to town on it - fully sorted body, removed the old nasty GRP panels - its all steel. Full respray. New brakes, wheels refurbed. Interior stripped out - even 300kph speedo and 10k rev gauge. It's cost a fortune and taken 18 months to build.

The engine is a modded 3.0, electronic ignition and webers - no heater, all stainless - sounds like a rocket! I'm just about to put a decal scheme on the car singer meets Gulf.....

Nice modified 964 RS recreation in Maritime Blue at JZ Machtech.

The price seems steep at £54,900 considering the mint car (2nd pic) was on for £42,900.

Looks lovely but £80k is too much for me.

If it was around the £45-£55k mark I would be interested.

This was at the Purely Porsche event last Sunday - it is truly a thing of beauty. Not a Singer, but then not Singer pricing.
