Hi,
Thank you, much appreciated! Lucky man a 3.6 Turbo! Nice!!!
I had my car's engine rebuilt at around 74k miles, just over a year ago. It's a Redtek 3.8 RSR full build by Nick Fulljames:
Mahle pistons and barrels, blue-printed and balanced, boat-tailed gas-flowed case, steel connecting rods, new Glyco bearings. Heavy duty springs and valves (TRW), RSR cams, titanium retainers. New chains & guides. Heavy duty ARP studs. Motec M84 ECU, PMO throttle bodies, fast lambda. ITG air-filters. RS Flywheel & clutch, RS quick-shift. Full 993 braking system - inc. MC, brake booster, rear callipers with MO30 discs, 964 turbo front callipers and discs. Bilstein B16 coil-over suspension. 18" Fuchs and a few other odd & sods.
Still left to do: The interior re-trim to finish and finally the rest of the suspension, new bushes, camber plates, top-mounts etc.
Good luck with your project, can we look forward to seeing a thread somewhere?
Thanks for your comments Guys!
"Did you make any modification to prevent leaks between the crankcase and barrels?"
The cylinder heads were refaced, I'm not sure which sealant Nick used but he's always happy to pass on his knowledge if you contact him. Good luck with your rebuild!
Cheers,
Paul
Engine is currently in bits , so not sure about mods to stop leakage - I will check , thanks for the heads up .Thank you, much appreciated! Lucky man a 3.6 Turbo! Nice!!!

This is a photo of the car , I'm having the engine re built , a full bare metal re spray , callipers repainted , wheels re furbed , etc - all very exciting - maybe I should start a thread ??
But more importantly , please tell me what all the stuff to the engines actually means in practical terms ? It sounds very impressive , but I'm not really technical , so I don't get it - cheers ,
R

Thanks, 7J on the front and 9J on the rear.
Very cool thanks. are you using any spacers too or just straight onto the hubs?rkelly said:
My car is off the road at the moment for a full engine rebuild. I was initially going to go for the 3.8 Mahle pistons and barrels but mine were so good I have decided to keep it 3.6.
I am thinking about the air mass conversion. Has anyone on here done this, if so does it come recommended?

Interesting to see what this 964 C2 Targa goes for. Apparently it's got great service history and top-end rebuild: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-911-CARRERA-2-TA...
Very, very similar to my targa, in both condition and service record. Although the ebay one has done 25k more miles. Mine is a G reg car too.
The bids are already well over what I paid almost exactly a year ago.
ETA: I've just noticed that the ebay car is a C2. Mine is a C4. So the ebay car should be worth more.

Thought you might like to see my two. Both C2's. Both approaching acceptable.
Both expensive little buggers!
One is staying to hurl through the Scottish Highlands and the other is heading for Northern Italy and a diet of undiluted Alpine Pass. Pearly (left) has 17 Cups and Mirrors. Dougie (right) has 16's and Flags.
Dougie absolutely has my heart.
Pearly has more low-end grunt but Dougie just **flies** at higher RPM. Both have leaky bottoms but I have nappies to help me cope. Who goes where??

That is a great post - very funny ! Impossible and not great parenting to split them up . Not that I'm colour obsessed or anything - but what colour are they - Dougie is a particularly lovely shade of blue ? Both expensive little buggers!
