For 15k you will probs only get a basket case body wise now. Wouldn't bother me mind, drive it around for a few years as a basket case then sell it on as a basket case for the same or more money, zero depreciation.
As long as it will pass an mot every year, tart the worn interior up a bit maybe refresh the suspension and happy days .

With the greatest of respect Rik. You need to find another £10k if you want to buy a decent 1980's SC or 3.2 Carrera. For £15k you will buy a world of pain. Borrow £10k over 5 years and in 5 years time you will break even or if the current market continues it will be worth double your investment.
Dependant upon how anal you are if you want to make a silk purse out of a sows ear and only if you use the right people for the job it will take you £30K to put it right.
Do it properly or don't do it at all.

I'm getting into a world I can't actually afford.
Think I'm gonna go down the food chain a little, maybe a cobra Replica or I really like a nice example of a Mk2 Triumph GT6
Having said that I'm really tempted with a 928..
Thanks for all your comments guys, it's been most helpful..

928 would be a good option, as you are clearly drawn to V8s and a decent investment to boot. Also most importantly in your budget. Bit too Grand Tourer for my taste, but if you like that sort of thing it's an excellent car. Having said that I'm really tempted with a 928..

GT or manual GTS are pretty wieldy actually...and a good one is within busgetThere was an IB dyno day this weekend and the guy organising it turned up in a nice SC bought for £8900 last yr up in darkest Scotland somewhere , admittedly he has spent nigh on 2k in servicing and a set of 8's for the rear , looked a nice car though , and even though it had 200k on it it made 202bhp which is great for a 204 hp car....
