Interest rates at 0, and not likely to move for like.. err forever..
Real estate already left the harbor a long time ago..
Overlooked for a long time Carerras looked expensive @20k 2-3 years ago are now looking cheap at 40.
Not surprising really.
I do not know many people who would turn down a car because it was too cheap and telling the seller to up his price, so why are you condemning traders doing the same? Trader bashing is getting tedious, they are just doing what they always did, buy and sell cars. Now with bigger profit. If you think they are making too much money start a company and get trading...
I agree just like houses sellers aren't going to leave money on the table if people are willing to pay and that's fair enough.Real estate already left the harbor a long time ago..

Of all the Porsche independents I think 911 Virgin seems to find the right balance around pricing. You pay a premium for a car but it's backed by a reputation (I have no connection to 911 Virgin, although I must pay them a visit at some point).
Others independents put cars up for fantasy amounts and hope they find a 'fat cat' who's needs that car whatever the cost.
Finding a solid well maintained 911 at a sensible price is hard enough for enthusiasts and a minefield to the untrained.
I have dealt with them historically when I sold my GT2 and purchased a 996 turbo from them, they promptly did all the work I requested and delivered the car to my home address which is a long way from where they are based. Good outfit.
The cars are usually their own stock too rather than SOR like many of the other traders/dealers

Yeah 911v tend to turn cars around pretty swiftly.

I remember only 6-7 years ago going to look at a Celebration G50 car, 75k miles, good condition and at £12k. And do you know what, not kicking myself, it just wasn't that special.
I find this SC and 3.2 thing all a little bit silly now. I am sure other will most definitely disagree but it's gone a bit mad of late. I was speaking to a dealer recently who was selling an 87 targa super sport at £34,995 and next to it was an absolute mint black on black, one owner 996 Turbo for the same money. Now I have owned very, very good SC's and 3.2s and have driven a 996 turbo and cannot see why you would buy the older cars for the same money? I bought both mine in the £10k bracket 6-7 years ago and drove them both daily, superb, incredible cars.............for £10k but at £35k....please.
As the thread suggests HYPE. I would have another 3.2 tomorrow and am in the market but I am not paying that money, hence it will probably cool down if people start thinking the same.
I suppose it all fits with the plethora of "vintage" 911 videos popping up all over the place, adding to the fever. Picture the scene, sunlight rising, trees gently blowing in the wind, guy gently rubs his hand against his vintage, patina'd jeans. He is in his workshop with his file, working to fashion a leather strap for the door pull. He is from Birmingham but now lives in Califronia, oh the dream......the dream. He wipes himself down and CLUNK the door opens and he gets in fires the beast and we are off. He is close to tears as he regails us with stories rich in the very fabric of porsche, as genuine as any pascha pattern. He takes a corner at a heady 45mph, the drama, the noise, the soul........ooooops he has just cum on his patina'd denim. As the thick, warm and as yet coagulated liquid reaches his racing shoes, which Ferdinand gave him personally, he pulls up at the side of the road. He gets out to watch the day begin, with a vista before him more spectacular than mere words could ever convey. This is the dream brothers, this is the life for me........now where that £35k and how do I grow dreadlocks?
Just had to bump this gem....post of the bloody year I find this SC and 3.2 thing all a little bit silly now. I am sure other will most definitely disagree but it's gone a bit mad of late. I don't live in Birmingham and I don't want to live in California. I do like air cooled Porsches though.
The assumption that something is worth more simply because it's more competent than an earlier model wipes out the whole classic car movement overnight. And 3.2 Carreras at £10k - he'll be waiting a long time to buy one.
Post of the year. I don't think so.
