I can't keep up with the prices, they seem to be all over the place.
Is this one far too expensive or possibly a good buy ?

£40k for a 1977 SC, that's expensive. Is this one far too expensive or possibly a good buy ?

But it is only 70k miles and I like the colour!

Beautiful car. Are you sure that car's original? Think it may have had extensive restoration and wasn't in best condition pre resto?
The advert certainly doesn't give the impression that it's a restored car , vendor says it's extremely original, always garaged etc. Do you have inside info ?g7jhp said:

I'd give £35k max, but I suspect it will sell pretty quick if as described.
Makes this look good value http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...
All the above IMHO and is it worth commenting on a market when this sort of malarkey is going on! http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...
I'm sure that green one was for sale last year for £25k. At the time that was really strong money for an SC, even one that looks to be in as good a condition as this one. I considered flogging mine and putting the extra to it to buy that one. Instead I decided to fully rebuild mine. £20k later and I still have a workshop full of bits. Hindsight, eh.

The one for sale above is a 1977 911 SC. I believe you're referring to either the 1978 911 SC which was restored.
Or the 1979 911 SC which sold a couple of times last year and ended up being sold by SVP Porsche.
Gmund also sold this 1979 911 SC
They're all clearly different due to the interior. Amazing how many of these SC's are around in this colour!

This thing made over 35 grand.
I remember when this old banger/smokers were 7 grand.
Plenty of money to be paid on it but I suppose it's an S so worth doing.
It's funny. The late IB cars need to have FSH, no panels even the valet key!
But the long bonnets can have a reshell and a different engine but it's OK!
Much like Ferraris. You can get away with murder with the early stuff...

letting a 930 G50 go for 40k .... VERY kind of you
Thanks! Its all relative to be honest I made a nice tidy sum on it, and they cost an earth to keep on the road and running right, the driving experience was crap IMO so if you don't enjoy the car on weekends and high days what's the point?
Plus it was replaced by something a lot more special. "GT2"

if i could have any porsche regardless of value to smoke around in every day, it would probably be a 1970 2.2 S coupe. special, special engine.
quite right good sir :-)I drove all the early S models except the 69 mechanically injected one and I owned a 2.4S. The 2.4S was the most disappointing. But the 2.2S was just pure music. I am told, unfortunately, that the symphonic one is the only one I did not drive...

funny how we all have favorites ... I found the 67S to be disappointing ( great as a stand alone car , but not to my taste) , 2.2 s I like, but I've always prefered the 2.4S. I liked mine when it was stock, now with increased compression & its even better & with a noise to match the 2.2 I drove all the early S models except the 69 mechanically injected one and I owned a 2.4S.
