£65k for an 86k mile 4S with Metropole Blue leather. No I'd prefer a nice narrow bodied manual C2 myself....apart from an RS.

Plus a lot of cars at some dealers are SOR so they are more like high end car brokers than dealers.

TBH Pete a lot of the high end stock is SOR which also inflates the prices.
I sooner sell more at a lower margin than sit on stock for 3 yrs looking into me crystal ball

Of course their pricing is their business - but I can't think of any other business that after failing to sell something in 7 months thinks - "I know what , let's add 20 % to the price and see if that helps " bizarre market !

Lovely looking example, and low mileage has a huge desirability factor.

In the current frenzied market it will probably sell.

I guess they're lucky that the market has caught up with their pricing. What gets me is the dealers who would then go and overprice an already overpriced car.

This has similarities to the property market. People tend to look between two price points (often not looking at cheaper properties). As a seller I dropped the price on a flat I was selling and it didn't sell so I took it off the market for a couple of weeks whilst I gave the flat a fresh coat of white paint and then put it on for a higher price and sold it (to a different price bracket). Most lucrative painting I've ever done.

I've just declined £80k on my 3.2

And why not? I see an original car worth double the silver restored zero speedo'd PS machine.

So I can confirm the a/c market is cast iron. For now...

wether its a bargain or not depends what you want from a car. I prefer my 964 C2 to my previous 996 Turbo

996 Turbo is admitedly a bargain for its out & out performance , but sometimes there is more to it than that. What makes a car enjoyable to one person is different to someone else. Although slower in a staight line by quite some margin, as I say, I really prefer my 964 C2 to my previous 996 Turbo.

( I'll admit though that a C4 isnt really for me )

No dealer is going to buy stock at the inflated prices of the current market. Last time I saw this was in 1989 when I worked for a dealer called the Paradise Garage, and the longer they kept a car on the floor the more money there was to be made on it....

A mate is considering selling a '02 996C4 with 70k miles, nice options and everything done. I guess he'll get £15k for it if he's lucky - which is a rounding error in comparison with value of earlier 911s that are dynamically inferior in every respect.

There is not much between them now is there?
I've only driven 1 996, a Turbo Tip X50. Proper fast bit of kit.
They just don't feel as well bolted together as a 964, even though they probably are.
