That turbo looks lovely. In relation to the thread I could never understand why the 964s were so unloved for so long, my dad had his 13 years all whilst I was at school so perhaps that's why I have such fond memories of it but it's the only car he sold which I was very sad to see go (even thought it was replaced by a shiny new one).

The growl as it started up and burbled out the garage was instantly recognisable and something the new one certainly doesn't match!

It was 1 of 50 I believe, wide body, turbo look, tiptronic cabriolet.

It was sold in 2010 for £18k with 50k on the clock frown

Wow looks lovely. Would look even better with a set of speedlines.

Thanks for all the feedback folks. Couldn't resist the temptation to put pen to paper (briefly)

......it is the last 911 that is true to the form of the original car.
This is what attracted me to 964s after years of owning Maseratis. Simple things, such as the upright stance of the headlights, something that Porsche began to move away from with the 993. And for me personally, the sublime sweep of the 964 targa's rear screen. These are two of the things that made me choose a 964 over the later 993.

I'm one of the rare breed who prefers the targa to the other body styles. Though, it seems that with the 991 targa, Porsche have come around to my way of thinking. hehe

They're a lovely balance of old and new while relatively simple beasts to work on.

Addictive.

I looked at buying a 964 back in the late 90's, back then people told me they were cheap because the handling wasn't as sorted as the 993, and many Porsche fans thought they looked ugly, one German told me that the bumpers were fat/blobby and did not suit the style of the car.

Got to laugh at people calling the 964 blobby compared to the 993.

Same people never see the lineage from 993 to 996 mind you.

Have to be honest I do not think a 964 out of the box handled as well as a 3.2 Carrera Sport out of the box (for me anyway). Just a bit soft when pressing on but who cares on lovely high days nowadays. Looks are subjective but for me the 3.2 Carrera just nudges it here too. I think the 964 kicks the spots of a 993 looks wise IMO but thats probably just me.

I like the styling of the 964, so I'm not a critic. Just reporting an opinion I found in Germany in the late 90's.

And the CSL stands out as a fine looking beast even when surrounded with slim looking models.

I'm sure I see this near work fairly regularly; I definitely see the same model and colour and I'm positive it has a plate; if not the same, that is very similar.

I always admire it when I see it, I'll try and get a photo when I see it again; which should be soon.

I've been a Porsche fan since a kid, my favourite being the 993, however lately I've really started to appreciate the styling of the 964 and am growing to prefer it over the 993, fat chance of owning either though, particularly as they are appreciating in value.

Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong topic, I usually just lurk this forum. I know that porsche prices in General have shot up in the past couple of years, but is it totally unheard of to find a 964 for the £15,000 mark? There's a high mileage targa on eBay right now, I only want one to drive and not for any type of investment. Should I completely forget about that one?

You could pick up a really nice c2/c4 manual with 80k+ miles for £15k back in 2009/2010. Now that same car is going to be £30k+

Still not impossible to them for £15k if you dont mind a tip cab with high miles on original engine but you may still have to spend another £5-£10k sorting out issues in the future if you want a rust free, non leaking engine car.
