Well, I own and love the what many would proclaim is the ugliest 964 duckling of them all; a C4 targa. And I bought it on purpose while not drunk. I think she's as beautiful as any 911. That sweeping rear windscreen is to die for.

Or something.
Any pics?
Here she is smile

As beautiful, to my eye, as my Maseratis were.

Christmas Day was beautiful here in London. I got up at dawn and took a couple of hours driving through the empty by-ways and B roads of Hertfordshire. The targa was stowed, the heater was on full and bobblehatted, I sang along to Christmas carols, courtesy of Classic FM.

I stopped off at a pub for a cup of tea and a packet of crisps. A perfect morning. Life doesn't get any better, IMO.

I did the same a few days later. Stopped off at the Beehive nr Essendon for a pint and some fish and chips! Will keep an eye out for you!

I chose Targa over Cab when I had decided on 964 as the Targa shape better suited my eye. Coupe, whilst lovely, did not match my requirements.
You are not alone in your reasoning.

I bought a house instead - I should have bought a 993.

Let's hear more about why everyone should buy 964s and how pants the 993 is please....
964 values have been rocketing upwards in the last year or two but they seem to have stalled/leveled off a little-
good ones ain't cheap but they certainly don't seem to be maintaining the previous rate of mental almost monthly increases. Oddly, if anything, the 993 seems to becoming more popular again.....some dealers are asking silly money for good 993 coupe's.

In order to retain the integrity of the thread below are a pic of my SC rear end and one of Emily Ratajkowski's rear end.

I need to get out to Estonia more often. Literally all the girls ahem cars look like that!

I think 964's are the nicest air-cooled shape 911. Here is my 1990 Carrera 4..

The 964 is nice, but the original design without the plastic bits is purer and better!

Certainly purer. But, could it be a daily driver in the C21st?

My 964 Turbo 3.6 - the 993 is for sure a more useable car but for looks alone the 964 has it! The 993 is a fantastic car but it doesn't have the head turning looks of a 964. (In my opinion

I love the 964t 3.6, but I reckon both the 993RS and GT2 are better looking.

One thing we can all agree on is the the 911 is THE car to have. So many different styles, it would be a boring world if they all looked the same.

If I had the cash for a useable car it would be a 993 Carrera 4S. Mind you, the 964 Turbo 3.6 just looks awesome..

Not really, plenty of us out there made other choices. If anything the 964 has just benefitted from the air-cooled 911 hysteria which has been propagated the past several years and only got worse when so called car enthusiasts realised they were sitting on a financial investment.

I think it's partly down to the fact that it's got the classic 911 shape, but can be used on a regular basis. Don't get me wrong, I love the classic mid/late 60's 911's. But having a classic Beetle, I know the ballache and maintenance that goes with old classic cars. A 964 you can pretty much jump in and drive without any worries.

Had a run out in a 2.4S several years ago and absolutely fell for the cars charms. The brakes though were shockingly bad. Always surprised by how much grunt the 964 has on track ask anyone that has raced on the same tarmac as them, its depressing as hell to suddenly hear that bark followed by the sight of the car in front warp speed off into the distance. I think they were very conservative with the power rating on these, a healthy C2 seems much faster to me than the numbers suggest.

Hi Neil, a friend of mine will agree with you. At the last track day we did at Oulton Park he was taken aback at how my 964 could pull a gap on his 996 on the straights. His very words were, "that 964 has got some grunt!" smile
