Do it once, and do it right.

Ex Califorian and Canadian 2.4E with 928 seats and 3.2 Carrera engine.

Fully stripped.

Interior sound deadening removed by hand.

All underbody sealant and corrosion protection removed by hand......

Acid dipped

Sunroof delete .......

Tig'ed cage install and seam welding.

To use modern parlance, your car is a "different gravy".

How it should be done. The welding is stunning..

I removed all that nasty undersell by hand too. It traps moisture and hides rot. Once I'd cleaned it all off with heat and scraper, I smoothrited the entire tub. I bet it's still as clean now. There are no short cuts to this.

Nice choice of colour; shame a few corners seem to have been cut.

Here's mine (1973 'T' with 2.5l engine on PMOs, RS arches and a few bits and bobs):

Goodwood SS, Christmas last year? Do you have a build thread or more details?

OP, how is the build coming along?

Have you spoken to the builders about the concerns posted on this thread?

Hope it all works out. The car could be stunning if done correctly.

Now that things have started to come together and I am getting a few photos, I thought I would start a thread on its own merit. Great idea Martin biggrin

Last year at Carfest South I bumped into Paul and Gordon of 911Rennsport who had a stand at the festival. After a couple of long chats and a sit in the orange RSR which was on the stand, I was hooked. After the show I popped up to see them both and it seemed my timing was impeccable, in that they were in the process of moving to a fantastic new set up/showroom in Moreton in Marsh. A deal was agreed which saw my black GT3 going in the opposite direction.

So now the car in back from the paint shop and we seem to be moving forward, I have attached a few photos.

Oh Gawd!

Keep a close eye on what they are doing - or not doing - if I was you.

Cage install, new outer sill and door jamb (with original M8 stamping frenched into new panel) and wing mounting flange (fnarrr)

Corroded outer sill cut away to expose solid inner sill and jacking point smile The shell was intrinsically very solid, with a rot free floorpan, inner sills and kidney bowls. the rear panel/crossmember had poorly repaired accident damage, the outer sill were rotten, the front panel had been replaced (badly) and the car previously has been fitted with aftermarket air conditioning. The front tank crossmember was rotten, as were the front A arm front mountings.

Front inner flitch seam welding, strut brace brackets installed

Fire extinguisher brackets and tunnel to rear bulkhead strengthening plates

Tig welding .....

100mm "Big turrets" (allow the fitment of coilovers rather than using torsion bars) being installed with crossmember in situ ......

Sunroof delete complete, new front and rear panels and cage installed.

Front flitch seam welding and anti roll bar mount plate strengthening.

More Tig ....

That's more like it!

Mr SlippyDiff - who did that work and (if you don't mind me asking) how much did it cost/is it costing? Looks very good.
