Uber low mileage 964 C2 for sale
Discussion
[quote=Steve Rance]Each to his own. My interest is not aesthetic nor is it pure pace. If it were pure pace I wouldn't drive my 964. It's entirely down to the driving experience, the involvement I suppose. My car rewards me more with big reds and 18's than original brakes and 17's so that works for me. It is not an aesthetic expression, merely a tool built to maximise my personal driving preferences, as is - no doubt - the white car. My point was - clumsily made I know- that with the addition of a little modern damping and braking technology a basic cooking 964 c2 has more performance potential than a stock RS. Which says an awful lot for the capability of the original chassis.
Just checking but I'm sure Singer use 993 Turbo Calipers with 17" wheels?
Also Larry from Ammo NYC who owns a monster 964 uses both 17" and 18" with big reds. See for yourself he made a video about them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1Sw5uwtn44

The most cost effective way to increased braking performance is to remove the rear proportioning valve. This give very similar overall brake performance to using big reds/blacks depending on what rear calipers are used.

It's not about pace or we'd all be in GTRs. Porsche never supplied the 964 with 18s and to me they will never look right. It's not about originality, just rightness. I like to see a decent arc of sidewall on the profile, especially on this, the prettiest of post-73 911s
There were some supplied by the factory. The ferrari yellow 964RS that belongs to pher ASBI was supplied from the factory with 18 inch speedlines. It was also supplied with the big red brakes rather than the standard RS brakes. Is this for real?
They have to be joking surely.

Wow, I remember a cobalt blue one up for £30k about 18 months ago. They have to be joking surely.

Whether that will sell for £100k, I have no idea!
Uber low mileage RS anyone? Only a mere £230,000. I bought a flat for that sort of money once!

They do if it has big reds. 17's won't fit!
Hey Steve, that's not actually true. Big Reds will go behind standard 17" Cup 1s or Cup 2s without any problem. It's tight but they fit. Plenty of folk with that set-up on 964s and 968s. Whether you can make the most of the increased braking power with a 17" in the limited sizes available is a completely different question ! For track use and greater range of tyres then 18" makes sense. Edited by Steve Rance on Tuesday 26th January 19:41
Have you been up to see Mr Schoffield yet ?
Jamie
Hi Jamie. Yep somebody else also pointed that out. I believed otherwise. It wouldn't have made any difference to me as the tyre options would have led me to the same choice but if I were to run a road only wheel tyre combo, I'd probably go for a 17 and a higher sidewall tyre option. I do agree with the previous poster regarding the asthetics and a taller sidewall will give much more compliance on the road. Also that unless you are looking for ultimate track performance big reds are not necessary. Edited to add that yes, I'm booked in with Mr.S next week for a remap.

Emphasis on the word 'once'. What's it worth now? http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

I think it will sell fairly easily. Good condition, trendy and many peoples dream car. Spend £100k now and in a few years get £100k back for it, why not. Man maths suggests its a great move compared to a modern car where you spend 100k and get 50/60k back in a few years. Whether that will sell for £100k, I have no idea!
