Interesting price hike.
Sold 2 days ago on the Bay for £29750...... back up today (with dealer) for £174950.
Hopefully there will be a full restoration included in the price!

guess so

however you could easily put £40k into getting it back in to pristine condition...then you have a great top spec turbo with 15 years of missing history for £70K

Cheeky. I tried to do a deal on a 77 Martini a few months ago with Fuhrmann seats...guy claimed trade has offered him £70k but failed to pay...he went quiet.so I assumed trade had paid up..at £70k strong money...and market seems to accept £70k as the price for s good example...so this trader is flying a very big kite....but I'm annoyed I didn't pick it up at £29k....

Here's the new listing - it's advertised at £174,950, yet at the bottom of the description says £ 109,950...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1977-Porsche-911-Classic...

Go figure!

And here's my idea of a Martini Porsche from my last visit - had the pleasure of a decent low 8 min BTG passenger lap in this, with traffic, bloody lovely! smile

The big difference is that the 930 you were after was a genuine factory built Martini turbo.
At best, this latest one is a dealer optioned Martini i.e. dealer fitted the stripes

Maybe. Didn't ever get to the bottom of that one. I've seen Fuhrmann seats in boggo SCs too...as you know, they were a (expensive) option from new.

Out of interest, what gave it away to you that this particular turbo isn't a factory Martini?

The only factory built Martini delivered into the UK that didn't have red, white and blue leather Dr Fuhrmann seats is the single Black Martini turbo built that has the same seats but in Black leather.

Interesting thread. Confusion seems to reign over the Martinis and the car at Silverstone Auctions seemed different to the other Martinis I have seen. We had a dig about and came up with this.

Martini Turbo - is it the right one?

Gmund Cars have a "barn" find that isn't one their website.

I went in this car lots back in the mid 80s, inc a being in a terrifying high speed whack. The stripes were possibly a dealer fitment when it was sold new.

I assume even if it was 'just' a normal Turbo, £29k was still good value?

It would be good value for the rattiest Turbo, considering this one was a 3.0, it was a steal.

Seller clearly had no idea, Martini or not.

The pix of the Gmund car appear to be those of the car I was trying to do a deal on. I assume that Gmund either bought the car, or the owner finally decided to restore it?

I saw the car at Gmund last weekend while I was looking at one of the 914s they have for sale. The Martini has plenty of work to do. I was struck by the red & blue seats and dash which obviously follow the same colours as the stripes on the outside of the car.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit even though I do not go ahead with the 914. I am sure I'll be back as they have some great looking cars.
