The cage is made from chromoly and being made to MSA spec with the design and details having been approved by the head engineer at MSA.

It looks a mess at the moment but I am sure it will come together nicely.

The cage should be finished this weekend and then the car goes next door to have all the fibreglass work sorted.

That looks good Derek. Looking forward to seeing the finished result. You definitely need a full cage with some of the silly stuff you do in yours wink

Looking good. Are you fitting diagonals and rear belt support bar across the back and side impact bars? If you are removing the door panels you can widen the door bars to protrude into the doors to give more room and better protection.

It's ironic as I was only considering how your timed strip runs are on the edge of rear end grip all they way,,, only the other day Derek, I sort of realised just how much of a knife edge your on thumbup

It will just be a typical 6 point with a door bar. The door bar has to pass between my shoulder and elbow but we are going to have it drop as low as we can as soon as possible. Basically so I can squeeze my lard ass in there.

Anchor points will be added for the harness. I am not sure if there will be a bar across the back of the seats yet.

Here are my door bars. Not a great photo but you will get the drift. A lot more space like this

Wow Derek, that should also massively stiffen up the chassis, I'd be really interested to know the effects it has on handling.

Not the most practical structure for everyday use of course, but clearly you need to do this for some sort of racing regs?

We are all massive fans of your racing career and achievements on the strip so keep the posts and results coming bow

Personally I've got nothing but admiration for your continual commitment in the face of countless setbacks, more power to your NoS powered elbow mate thumbup

Wow thanks for the support Dave.
I am going to try my best to lay off the gas for a while this time.
The plan is to try and run regular 11's just on the motor.

Its going to be a scarily quick car if you are fitting a yaw sensor/accelerometer on the tunnel. rotate

Cracking Job - that looks like an excellent fit. What are you doing for lateral triangulation?

I am pretty sure it does not require one for the spec I need but I will ask anyway.

as I posted in random pic's you may not have seen it. I have never seen an MSA/FIA cage with out a diagonal to stop cage from flattening in the event of a roll over. You can clearly see the Diagonals on this MSA / Fia cage. Could be they have allowed you not to have them. You should get a signed drawing approval from MSA that goes with your cage once they have passed the design which will be useful at scrutineering sometimes

It's going to be welded in Pel.
David will protect the welded areas to the chassis before sending the car next door to have the fibreglass repaired.
We decided last night to fit a swing out bar in the doorway as access is going to be tight as you can see here.

11th hour chage of plan.
The cage is now getting an additional diagonal across the rear and a swing out bar for each door.
Guess I better get another harness for anyone stupid enough to be a passenger.
