Well, the cap arrived today and will not fit straight on, but I think it can be modified to fit and lock. The cap is identical in all aspects to the original non locking cap, size wise. The only thing is it doesn't have the spring load mechanism around the inner ridge but this is not actually needed as the filler neck outer ridge is tapered to fit the cap on tightly. The problem with the Ceandess locking cap is that the butterfly locking mechanism does not retract far enough for the cap to sit in properly past over the inner ridge of the filler neck. If the butterfly locking flaps were filed down, I reckon the locking cap would sit in place and lock past the filler neck ridge. The extent of the filing down is tricky though, because it has to be filed down far enough to go past the inner filler ridge but long enough to lock in place and be able to take the key out the cap.

The bottom line is, it doesn't fit straight on and so I'm sending it back.I don't have the right tools to measure and modify accurately. The two pictures below show the extent of reach of the butterfly locking mechanism on the cap.

Nick, your filler neck is the same as mine looking at the photo you posted on the other thread.

Yes Mark, it is exactly the same cap, but this one is just a few quid cheaper. The point is, it doesn't fit unless you modify it. If the cap was not a lot of money, I'd have a go because I'm sure it will fit with a little modification. Still, I didn't want to tamper with it so I sent it back. Now we know for a fact that it doesn't fit straight off. If I hadn't tried, it would always have been on the back of my mind. As the song goes (always on my mind).

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the research I might give it a go I am a top botcher and have an angle grinder let alone a file smile

I know it is probably on the other thread but can you confirm where you got it from and the part number. May have to wait until next month as the credit card has taken a hammering and I haven't even treated the current Mrs Brough to her annual Valentines slap up meal at McDonalds yet.

Although, I do have a Big Mac for £1.99 voucher somewhere.

I got mine from feked.com and it's cap no. 032 and costs almost £54.00 including vat and postage but as Mark pointed out you could get the same cap on the flea but it costs just a little more at nearly £59.00 including postage. I'm sure other places do them too.

It just needs someone to modify it and I'm sure it will fit and lock but you need to have the right tools. Just involves accurate measuring and filing down. I hope that helps. I've sent mine back.

I think it's common practice to file them down, mine has filed flanges, I'm sure TVR just put them on a bench grinder back in the day.
