Hi all

Just getting my 911SC ready for its MOT and beginning of the summer use. My rear fog light wouldn't come on, which I traced to a broken wire near the fog light. I did a temp repair to see if that fixed the issue, which it did. I've just done a permanent repair and the fog light won't come on, but more worryingly both driving lights have now stopped working. Parking lights are OK, as are the front fogs.

All relays and fuses check out OK - any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation...!

Sounds v strange. I'm no expert, but did have a couple of foglight wiring stories with my 3.2 that might help you investigate.

I needed to switch the rear fog from the left rear to the right rear due to moving from EU to UK (my car is LHD). Decided with garage to add a rear right fog and leave the rear left unit in place. Rear fog wiring is normally linked to the rear number plate light, I was told, and it'd be hard to run a new cable all the way through from the fuse box. So we disconnected the left rear, left it in place, & used its wiring to power only the new right rear.

Separately, I had long known that the brightness of my car's rear fog can be changed by rotating the headlight switch. This is not supposed to happen. Rotating the headlight switch is supposed to adjust the brightness of the instrument panel. It does so on my car - and also dims/brightens the rear fog light. We have never got to the bottom of that, other than they believe my fog light switch is worn (my car has done 220k km). Anyway for unexplained reasons, the headlight switch has some link to my rear foglight. But my driving lights work fine.

Good luck ! I'd be interested to hear if you get it sorted, and if you do have a headlight-switch-dimming rear fog like me, is there a way to resolve it ?

thanks chaps - yes, I'll head on over to Impact Bumpers to see if any one can shed any light on this. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that a previous owner had an alarm system installed which seems to have randomised the wiring and fuse set up....

just to put this one to bed - source of the issue was down to loose connections under the bulkhead, which also caused the intermittent wipers not to work as well. Once connected all was good!
