I get the appeal smile

Unfortunately many of the best 964's are being bought as the platform for expensive resto-mods ...

I would like to know how many actual 964 C2's are left on UK roads. I am sure when I looked into 993 C2's narrow body there were only around 800 cars sold over the 4 years they were for sale. I think that their would be even fewer 964's sold with the early 90's recession!

I heard on a podcast with a 964 specialist that Singer bought the poorer end of the market as they were getting fully refurbished anyway!

White 964 C2 up for sale at Mark Winstanley Cars on P/heads. Asking price of £79 964 for 81000miles. It is his own personal car that he has owned for a long time and knew it's previous history. It has been up for sale since beginning of July and he said there was room for a little negotiation but personally I didn't want a white car and I thought it was too expensive.
Saying that I spoke to a guy at Thirlestane Castle car show who had bought a 964 rs rep with similar mileage a couple of years ago and he had paid £78k.

A few weeks ago their was a red C2 appeared on P/heads with low mileage ,lovely black interior. It was up at £79000 and dissappeared after a couple of weeks on site. Looked genuine unmolested on 16inch wheels being sold for health reasons. I guess the market is mid to high 70's for a nice car!

I would be interested to hear which side of this can be corroborated. Given the investment in a Singer ...

Singer specify no frame damage due to crash impacts, beyond that I don't think they're too bothered Chris.

Pretty much all of the outer panels are replaced with carbon fibre, and 964 floorpans aren't renowed for corrosion (though I'm guessing the rear seat pan could rust due to a faulty rear screen seal or corrosion around the rear screen to due to damage to the paintwork under the screen rubber as a result of a botched rear screen replacement)

The front tub is quite heavily modified during the backdate procedure along with the modifications required to accommodate the myriad oil coolers.

I cant remember if the doors remain steel (I think they do) though they possibly end up with carbon skins.
The shells are completely stripped (possibly acid dipped and/or pyrolysis) and then they're modified prior to being E coated and fitted with the carbon panels.

And as such should have a Q plate and be IVA tested I presume? I wonder if they will stay under the DVLA radar.

Apologies I didn't mean it as you took it. I was trying to understand if you thought a 964 with 150k miles would be or is worth £80k ?
Nice looking C2 at Northway with 98000miles

When I bought my 964 in 2016 I looked at several, the thing I noticed was not to worry about mileage. Actually bizarrely the higher mileage ones were better generally.

If you want to know where the UK 964s are going, look no further than Harris Classics. He is quietly cornering the market and I think is a buyer for various of the backdaters. I've seen pictures of double decker car transporter trailers filled with 964s and a pic of his yard with 20-30 cars visible.
If you've been wondering where all of the Cup 1 wheels have gone (they always used to be readily available). He's got those too. Over 100 sets apparently......

Why would you buy up all 964's for backdaters and Singer? They will have a base price they will pay but with the scarcity of cars surely UK residents would pay as much if not more? Such as the red C2 he had up earlier this summer which was bought by CAS Tv on yootoob! Had a few issues and needed paint but a great project for anyone! Surely Mr Harris has to compete with others for the cars that come on the open market?

I know of a fairly scruffy C2 in Rubystone that came out of storage that he paid pretty top dollar for earlier this year...... I'm not totally clear what the business model is, but I've seen the photographic evidence of the cars he has......

I had an interesting sales experience with them…

Given the volume of cars he seems to deal with I guess other sellers have had less “interesting” experiences tbf.

Was that the one that was bid to £54500 on Collecting Cars but no sale, then bid to £54000 and sold(but didn't really). Then on facebook at £79995 which was reduced to £64995 and then on Harris Classics at £69995!
You can tell I was following the market in my recuparation!

He's up the road from me, this is not true. He generally buys trade ins from dealers like Ashgood and the odd private purchase. He has 3 or 4 at a time.

I viewed a car at his during covid. Pleasant experience and all round Nice chap. Imo.

His stock is usually on IG, nowhere near 30 cars.
