Nice thread. Sadly I suspect ALL air cooled will do this eventually.

Just be glad your wings are Turbo wings yikes

It seems the quality of parts coming out of Porsche these days is way below what you would expect.

I replaced the rear spoiler and it’s crap, my friend sent 5 back, The parts dept. Was full of utter crap ones. I’ve seen a lot of classic parts that are well below standard.
yes

3 O/S doors. We gave up in the end, and had to fix the fault before being able to use the new part.

4 front bumpers, all rejected due to the top face being wobblier than dog's back leg. They got the message in the end, but it was painful process, and this was 10 years ago ...

On the face of it, what Porsche is doing in supplying new parts for what are now old cars, appears very laudable, but they've not invested in new tooling, instead they've dragged the old tooling out of retirement, done little or nothing to it in the way of refurbishment, then found the the cheapest companies to produce the parts, and are not bothering with the standard of QC they would have applied when the cars were originally built, AND they're charging a premium "Because they can".
So would you now go for Porsche parts or obvious alternatives ? I was told that the Porsche parts fit better, but it's quite possible if they all need some fettling to fit well, that the cheaper alternates are the better option ?

I could have saved £400 by buying Dansk wings but the bodyshop advised me to buy genuine Porsche as they get various porsche panels every week and have seen the good and the bad. I took them at their word. I have read that dansk were supplying Porsche but don't know if that is true or not.

Neither were fitment issues Chris. The front bumpers were poorly manufactured. Period.
That was either down to the tooling they were using or the injection moulding process.

The doors again, were not a fitment issue, rather they were poor assembly/manufacturing. The door skin had been poorly fitted, both it's position relative to the door shell itself, but also in the way it had been folded and crimped around the door shell. So rather than being a nice smooth curve in profile, it was more akin to a fifty pence piece.

After we'd received the third door (every door had to come from Germany and the replacement ordering process took nearly two weeks) my panel beater/painter lost patience because the job was being held up, and said he's unpick the skin and rectify the issue himself.
