maura, 2 of the 7 UK Rhd CS met an early end. I have photos somewhere of the red and purple ones in a sorry state.

My understanding is that the UK 993 Clubsport cars came with "Carrera RS" on the rear lid as per all 993 RS/CS, I have seen RSR badging over the years, I assumed this was done after sale?

Thoughts on the the CS becoming known in the UK as the RSR maybe because the 968 Clubsport was the cheapest 968 which sold for around half the price of the 993.
Or more likely, because It also has the same larger spoiler ktt as the RSR, hence the distinction.
The CS/RSR bodykit was also a factory option available on the regular m002 993RS at a cost of around £6k

The 993 RSR was a seperate variant, around 50 odd built race car based on the narrow bodied 993 with GT2 style bolt on arches and a more powerul version of the 3.8 engine.
I had some parts off the crashed purple cs,as said no rsr or on the rear lid.I had one of the 30 rsr that i raced and track day alot, reading nicknamed the cs as a rsr to differentiate from the 968cs.I have a postcard somewhere of the blue cs you mention going up shelsley walsh hillclimb.

Here is a link to myself and maca in two of the original 993rsr,both narrow bodies at Portimaio.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76x6pHQ0zwk

They did make two widebody rsr,aka gt2 bodyshells.

Chris those fikse wheels were really good, and looked great.

I had a lot of laps of many circuits in that car as a passenger. Spa, Ring, Brands, Silverstone… I knew the prior owner.

Just missed that and Yellows 993 RS then bought Andrew McAlpines midnight blue RHD in 1998/1999.

Three of the seven IIRC. A black one was totalled.
9M bought the salvage and bits of it ended up being built into the road going RSR built for WT Doom.

Bought 993 RS Midnight Blue from HR Owen Porsche at Hatfield, for 68,995, daily drove it for 18 months, from Surrey to London Victoria 5 days a week. Sold it to AFN Guildford for £65,000, had about 18000 miles on it.Then bought 1 of 7 RSR that came to UK, Riviera Blue from Rivervale Porsche, for 71,000, couldn’t daily drive that and sold it 4 months later for 68,000. At the same time I knew the Black RSR as well, and while we were both owners, we heard one of the Red ones was written off, so from early on, it’s only been 1 of 6 to best of my knowledge. One thing I never understand is the UK cars were called RSR, not Clubsport, and my memory is fussier now, but pretty sure it had RS R badging on rear lid?? Forward to 2019 and I was in Maxted Page looking at PTS Maritime Blue 991.2 GT3 Manual, supposedly OPC Leicester got a PTS through. While I was there my old 993 RS in midnight blue was there by chance, up at 235,000. Great to sit in it again and also to see my name and old address in the book blew the salesman’s mind! Eventually sold to Far East, a lot of the 49 have gone that way. Good memories.
Great stories, and yes used as they were intended, not this disease of mileage and value! Found the photo of my visit to Maxted Page in July 2019, my old 993 RS and the Maritime Blue 991.2 GT3 manual in 1 of 2 PTS UK delivered.

I met the guy who owned the black one before he wrote it off at Donington. He was a 'Security' guy who at the time was looking after the Connolly factory after they closed. He was regailing me with stories of getting chased by the law in his CS, very entertaining guy, remember roaring with laughter at some of the capers he'd got up to, albeit one you would not to get on the wrong side of. IIRC he may have been fatally injured in the crash frown

There was a fatality JC, but it wasn’t him … as I understood it, it was the daughter of the driver of the car the RS driver hit.

I met Matt with the cage cut out a few times over the years, a larger than life chracter with some interesting tales.
He was from Chilham near Canterbury and met his end in a way you might expect from his lifestyle. Rip.

As I recall the cage had to be modified for the size of the driver but it was still there ... relocated.

Didn't the car end up with Gmund after the owner died and there was then a battle over ownership ?

I don't post here that much, but this is a great thread.

I still have my 993RS, it is such a nice car, it's a bit of a pig when cold, esp with the lightweight flywheel, but when warm it sounds fantastic and is such an enjoyable drive. Had it for 22 years now and I can never see me parting with it. Other cars come and go, but for me this is a keeper.

I've had a few over the years. Going to the 'RS vs RSR' discussion earlier, I had one of the wide bodied RS/Rs for a few years, used to race it in the Porsche Open, this is a different car to the 993 Carrera RS Clubsport which is the black one further up this page that jimmyslr used to have (and that we raced together also in the Open). Wide body, different wheels (centrelock), different engine although also 3.8 which put out about 350bhp in standard form, ATL bag tank in the bonnet etc. I've still got the factory manual somewhere if anyone is interested in it. Here is my 993RS and 993 RS/R at the Ring - the next morning both were covered in snow!

Also had a 993 Cup car which I raced in the Open for a few races, and in this pic it is with the red RHD RS that ChrisW now owns - I used to know the previous owner and we used to do many trips to the Ring and Spa together with a few others on this thread.

The Cup car was lovely, I bought it off a guy who never raced it, it only had something like 2,000km on it. The Cup cars have the 8:32 final drive rather than the normal 9:31 so it took off like a rocket! Ah, happy days, that car must be worth a fair bit these days...

Similar to the Riviera Blue RHD 993 RSCS with AC that RPM recently sold. A large farmer friend was going to buy it and got Lancaster to chop the side bars down to ease access, he didn't subsequently complete on the car, and another friend bought it with the modded cage.
