Similar to the Riviera Blue RHD 993 RSCS with AC that RPM recently sold. A large farmer friend was going to buy it and got Lancaster to chop the side bars down to ease access, he didn't subsequently complete on the car, and another friend bought it with the modded cage.
The black one had the door bar removed. Has been re fitted since and sold again a few years ago. The bouncers car.

Do they say that a car reflects the character of the owner ?? Scary thought smile

P.S. Regretfully I no longer own the development car ... 'had 35 Porsches and twice that number of ANOthers ... hence all the pics !

As I recall the cage had to be modified for the size of the driver but it was still there ... relocated.

Didn't the car end up with Gmund after the owner died and there was then a battle over ownership ?
Yes it did end up there, thats when a part of human anatomy was found under the seat.I saw it with no door bar,so possibly put back in later.

I am a long term forum lurker too and a very occasional poster. In case anyone in the thread resurrection is interested I still have the Midnight Blue RHD 993 RS that I bought from OPC Swindon in 2004 after some helpful pre-purchase advice from Bergmeister (thanks Paul!). It is the ex-Max Beaverbrook/BVB Motorsport car. Having retired from work at the end of last year the car will be getting used more now that I have some free time. Car will be on track at the PCGB pre-98 track day at Goodwood in June. I would upload a photo of the car if I knew how but I don't!

I thought it would go north of £500K but I guess the market has spoken for now as it has had some significant press/social coverage.

Great thread / well bumped!

Here is my 993RS and 993 RS/R at the Ring - the next morning both were covered in snow!

Also had a 993 Cup car which I raced in the Open for a few races, and in this pic it is with the red RHD RS that ChrisW now owns - I used to know the previous owner and we used to do many trips to the Ring and Spa together with a few others on this thread.

The Cup car was lovely, I bought it off a guy who never raced it, it only had something like 2,000km on it. The Cup cars have the 8:32 final drive rather than the normal 9:31 so it took off like a rocket! Ah, happy days, that car must be worth a fair bit these days...
Amazing cloud9 - It doesn't get much better than this bow.

Any more stories and/or photos you can share of the RSR, and Cup in particular, would be most welcome.

Rarely seen these days...

Love the resurrection, thanks!

A LHD 993 RS in Speed Yellow (Comfort model) was my "realistic dream car" 20 years ago, long before the ship saiiled price-wise. Piers had just the very car of my dreams (thats my black 964 in the background):

Another guy ("Rocket" on Rennlist, forgot his name, only met once) had a lovely red CS, alas forget the details of that one.

And then, being in this GT2 at Goodwood still brings back memories (I think the owner also had a yellow RS as a second car):

Lovely thread resurrection!

10 pages of Porsche porn being driven as the maker intended, such a glorious and refreshing alternative to the current "price of everything, value of nothing" brigade spraying their endless drivel all over the PH Porsche forum.

Long may it continue beer
