Evo Mag Feature: Ferrari 360 'the next big thing'...

I'm a fan of the 360, particularly the spider. However, due to numbers alone, I wouldn't say it'll be "the next big thing" if they mean in terms of price appreciation.
If they mean in terms of popularity, I could see that. A nice blend of performance and technology, with a good degree of analogue interaction. I'll take a TDF or Nero/Crema spider please

I wouldn't expect massive appreciation, but many did leave to Australia etc which has choked availability slightly.
When I was changing cars I was thinking of a new Boxster but had always wanted a Ferrari. When you look at it this way, it's a better place to have money than a brand new Porsche, assuming the Ferrari is serviced with independants.

This^^ a lot. I think a lot of people with money for a fancy weekend car don't even consider a Ferrari when it'd be easily achievable. At a lower level, I was after a lightly used Z4M Roadster back in 2008 until idly browsing Autotrader I saw that Maser 4200s existed for the same money....Z4M didn't get a look in after that.mwstewart said:

Also, while I do like the 430 and most will tell you how much a better car it is, for a weekend drive on a sunday morning there's something about the screaming sound of the 360 engine with a proper exhaust that I think I would miss in a 430 (I'm sure 355 folk say the same of the 360). I think it's because the 360 has 5 valves per cylinder and they changed the engine block to a maserati-derived block with the 430? Or maybe it's the extra cats the 430 has in the manifolds?Either way, not denying the 430 is a "better" car, but 360s are just incredible value and the engine is solid if looked after, by all accounts.
I think the 360 is starting to look like very good value especially when you consider what's happening to the cars before it and the price level of the cars after it.......
It does make me smile when people say how 'common' they are.....What 900 UK cars each for the Modena/Spider. It's hardly a 964/993 and look what's happened to those....

I know I am new to Ferrari ownership, but I am reading the 360 Modena book that I bought shortly after the car (geek alert) and it states that the 360 has a 5 valve per cylinder head - three intake and two exhaust, sames as was on the 355 i believe?. I have read that's one of the reasons why the 355 and 360 sound so good , but that could be a load of tosh ( even though they do sound amazing!)

Either way the 360 screams like a V8 ferrari should, in my opinion. The 430 is clearly a better car but I prefer the sound of the 360.
