California T - what are we thinking?
Discussion
From your account it sounds like the turbo engine has lost the Ferrari wow factor.
To me, this California T sound clip sounds like a McLaren 12C ...

Funnily enough I drove one last weekend in the hope it would have improved on the things I hated about the previous Cali
Sure enough it did, looks better, steering has some feel, the old one had none
And then I was offed a go in a 458 spider
No context, 458 cruises happily, I could tour in one no problem
458 handles like a big go cart, no surprise there
However 458 has as much luggage space as the Cali, boot wise
Cali rear seat are unusable if you have legs, so unless you just need them for luggage the 458 wins hands down

Very interesting to hear other peoples' thoughts on the new Cali T. Even though the noise is nothing special I thought for a turbo car it is still OK. Listening to a California T and a California drive by today there wasn't a huge amount of difference at full throttle.
As for the 458, well I took one out for a couple of hot laps on a track, and I personally think it is the best car you can buy right now. I will definitely buy one in the next year or so, I absolutely love it. However, I'm not sure that I'd take the 458 if I was looking for a proper GT car & my main reason for purchase was touring. Sure it's comfortable, usable, etc but it really wouldn't match the Cali for relaxed cruising or long journeys.
