I'm contemplating a 355 GTS but not sure whether my garage will be wide enough to get in and out of it. I'm not particularly "wide" myself but worried the door won't open far enough for me to get in and out.
We have a modern house with a typically narrow garage that is 96 inches wide. Any owners out there reckon this would be ok to get in and out without flouting the door? I have foam on the walls to prevent damaging my current car and that is fine but I'm thinking the wide sills and doors would mean they would need to open a lot more.

Sounds like it will be tight, that's 9 foot, a standard garage door is 7 foot which means folding a mirror in normally, so very roughly you will have just 12 inches or so each side.
They are fairly deep doors as you say.

It will be tight, but I think you will be fine - you have more space than me.

96" = 2,438mm

I have 2340mm / 92" (and the entrance is only 2100mm / 82.6") - my 348 fitted OK, and my 360 also fits. It's certainly tight and there is not a huge amount of space to get in and out (and I have to fold the drivers mirror in to get through the doors) but it does fit.

You'll need to be as thin as a rake. My 355 lives in a 9' garage with a 7' door. It just gets through the door without folding the mirrors and I can get in and out but it's fairly awkward. I'm pretty trim but would I be able to slide in and out of the car with a foot less width in the garage? I doubt it. You'll always be able to roll the car in and out I suppose.

Had this very problem with my old 355. No way can you open a door whilst inside a standard single garage... Solution was actually quite nice...

Line her up, open the garage door and roll her in / out. Leave the handbrake off (only a good thing anyways) and then slip a choc / block of wood behind the rear wheel...

When I was going for a Sunday drive I always loved the start of the day like this, hearing the car quietly roll out with the gravel crunching under the wheels - just waiting to fire her up! Made the whole thing a bit more special...

Where there's a will there's a way! ;-)

I had the same problem when I got the 355. I had 2 sets of small doors side by side but ended up making my double garage doors into a huge garage with one huge door (rather than 2). Expensive (£4K) but has made my garage so much more usable and I wish I had done it years ago (with or without a 355 to go inside!)

I'd be more concerned about this.....good chance you'll have bother with the front end if your drive is steep then suddenly goes flat. My drive has a "hump" where it goes over the pavement before dropping by about 300mm in height along a short slope onto the flat section. I regularly catch the undertray on the high spot and the noise is enough to cause sleepness nights.....

However, the garage is 3m internally and thats fine for getting in and out my 355, though I have some carpet nailed to the wall to allow the door to touch while getting in and out.
