whenever i phone around for insurance, some brokers ask me to list all the factory options
how does that work when you get to such a long list ?

Nice and looks reasonably high spec

As far as front number plate goes I would stick it on the bumper edge above the horse and certainly be trying to get away with a smaller ( potentially legal loophole for imported vehicles without provision for a front number plate ) 64mm Font similar to motorbikes

Ive got my two 5 character personal regs onto a 330 x 89 plate and they fit the Lambo and Scuderia so much better for it.
When I had no plate at all I was stopped but since they can see you have something I guess they don't necessarily see its not the standard 89mm font

Good on you for going for the gold wheels, I saw a Rossa Corsa car with gold and it looked fantastic. Never thought I'd say that about gold wheels on a car.

Sounds great - the one and only comment / suggestion, do you really need the 'Road legal roll-bar'?
The rear flick on the tailgate deck combined with the roll bar means the limited view through the back windows becomes rock-all. I know you'll have the camera, but is the roll bar really necessary?

I just send the order form to the insurers........I find this also helps with agreed value and any gap insurance.

Many thanks - I'll look into it - I have enough time! Did your dealer help with your number plates? Are they stick on vinyl number plates or do you need to mount?

The difference that the roll bar made on my 550 WSR was enormous. I appreciate that the 458 Speciale is much more stiffer than the 550 WSR, but as I intend to use the car at as many track days as possible, I think that I'll keep it.

Congrats Anjum! An amazing spec - you will love all the carbon. A few comments from a friend that ordered and has virtually same spec but in grey.

- they too had the track cam and telemetry, but then they could not get an insurance company to cover for track
- also you can get an almost 95% of fit/functionality on after market for around 1/3rd of the cost. The full telemetry from the car is still available to be accessed by the appropriate fox type thing
- they just asked their dealer not to fit the front number plate and just stick it in the boot. If stopped then just say - just had it painted and dealer said to leave it off for 48hrs for the paint to cure...I have not had a frnt plate on my Exige for over 4 years and only once stopped and said it fell off, here it is in the boot. He smirked and said put it on and off you go...
- make sure you get the carbon bits covered in film

I would cancel the 3 options above...

The roll bar is just decoration and offers no protection.

The lift is not needed and too heavy on a Speciale, just put Manetino into race.

HELE is just wrong for a Speciale IMO.


I would fit a fully legal front plate. Ive never understood the nonsense of driving around without one.

I agree re these options not being necessary particularly in view of the nature of car and other spec. They may even have an adverse effect on the car IMHO. I find the Intelligent Stop Go ( HELE Equivalent )on my diesel company car a real pain in the ar53 and it drives me up the wall

I'll look into the roll bar. The lifting system is essential where I live (central London) - for speed humps, ramps and parking. I haven't owned a sports car that didn't have a lifting system since 2001.

What detrimental effect do you think the HELE will have? As I understand it all Speciales have HELE (indeed many of their models do) - it's just disabled unless you tick the box. I think that HELE is great in town, making it much more likely that I'd use the car on tours to Europe - and it may not be an option in the near future (I'm guessing) - I've had have stop/start on the last couple of Aventador's - and it's works well.

I'm off to the factory tomorrow to spec a Speciale. I was also thinking roll bar but hadn't thought about the rear view - does anyone know for certain that it obstructs rear visibility in the Speciale? I've agonised over all sorts of different colour and spec ideas. All that effort and my conclusion is....

Corsa/NART. No doubt a few glasses of Prosecco will produce some fine decisions in me on the day, which will all get changed once sober.

I agree about the 3 options you do not need and I did not spec these on mine. I was also told apart from the weight the lifting system adds, you also loose the adjustable ride height function on the front suspension which seems a strange thing to be prepared to loose when if you are going to add all the other track biased options such as track telemetary system and roll bar.

I agree. Think you have to be in 1 camp or the other and not mix track v road spec options

If the roll bar is anything like the CS version it doesn't impede rear visibility at all . Congrats on the car , spec is fab

Nought wrong with that spec and I think it looks great in white. Relatively speaking I think lower spec cars will hold up better on resale. You never get your money back on lots of carbon fibre trim etc.....
