Thanks to everyone. Had a chat with Tim Walker who was excellent and also Nick cartwright who has this for sale - http://www.nickcartwright.com/carsales/showroom/vi... which looks decent IMO. Anyone seen it ?

Also do can I expect any sort of warranty ?

Thanks again
Not seen it in the flesh but that is a lovely example and with the Daytona inserts cloud9
Feel sure it would come with a warranty from Tim

5 owners for a 13 year old car is nothing - condition and provenance is everything

If you like it (and it sounds like you do) - get it bought biggrin

You will often find that the high-end exotica and expensive sports change hands fairly often. It's actually more unusual to find a low number of owners in the Porsche and Ferrari world. It should not reflect badly on the car as many wealthy people buy, use for a little while and trade in on a regular basis.

Apologies if I'm a bit of party pooper but have you spent time with a 360 Spider? I owned mine from new (had an F1 box) and I specced her in Rolls Royce Peacock blue, scuro roof, crema daytona seats and with Challenge wheels. Looked a million dollars. Spin the engine to max and the noise and shove was great, but our Golf Tdi had better in gear pick up than my Spider. In gear acceleration was at times glacial. It had to go.

I suspect most things would seem glacial compared to your current lineup though! wink

biggrin. True. But in 2002 when I ordered my 360 Spider, my only other F car was my 550M, which I still have today (and adore). It was against the grunt of that V12 that I found the 360's V8 so frustrating. Yes, I was comparing apples and pears but the difference in low end pulling power was so marked it was a joke. The final straw was travelling early one Sunday morning on the A1. Me in my 360 and alongside appeared a tweaked Ford Focus (with fat exhaust etc). We both floored our cars, the Ford left me as if I had my handbrake on. Like I said, the 360 Spider is a pretty car and top down in its highest rev band, it's a blast. If that floats one's boat, then it's a great experience. But one needs to spend time with it before buying to ensure its character and delivery doesn't ultimately disappoint.

Just in comparison, I find my 360 to have far more low to mid range grunt than the old 355 I had.

Hi guys - for some reason I am having to justify this purchase to my father. I am budgeting for £2k per year running costs is this accurate. Also can someone confirm how often the cambelt needs changing ? Thanks again

I budget 2.5k pa for service costs and so far haven't spent that. Some years you win some you lose.

Belts are 3 years irrespective of mileage.

Base servicing cycle should be 450-600, 450-600,1200. Then factor in tyres, ball joints, clutches etc.....

Where yo can also burn money is on upgrades such a sports exhausts, wheels etc

If you want to spend 2k in total running costs then look elsewhere. I put 750 quids worth of fuel in for 3k miles.

A few scribbles show that to be around 24mpg, which sounds pretty damn good to me. Please tell me I haven't made a mistake with my maths!!

Mmmmm. It does dosn't it. I must be in denial. It averaged 18 over the first two years so make it around grand a year for 3k miles. Although the price of Vpower is falling....veerrryy slowly biggrin

I have not tested the 360 consumption but as a guide my 355 which I picked up from scotland did 24 mpg, that though was going at less than 70mph on the motorways as I was advised "whatever you do in scotland dont speed"
I recon you will be lucky to average 15 mpg

I would budget £3-4k for annual maintenance and servicing. As Mike says some years you will spend a lot less than this, but all it takes is a few ball joints, track rod ends, brakes or tyres to turn your £600 annual service into a £3k bill.

It's hard to tell what it will cost but my thinking is if you budget the top end of the above range then you won't be disappointed. The last thing you want in your Ferrari ownership is to feel that it's costing you more than you thought, that would ruin the experience somewhat.

I do not think that you can add fuel into the equation of the running costs, fuel costs what it costs, it's not a fixed cost such as servicing, I know servicing is not fixed as such, but you get my meaning.
I have had my 360 18 months now and covered about 3/4k and its cost me, 3 k , but I did go overboard and have it serviced at Lancaster Colchester, I also refurbed the front suspension, so as that won't need doing for another few 1000k I reckon my costs will be no more than my Boxster when averaged out, the Boxster only does 20/24 mpg, so the 360 is pretty good I think, just go and get one and enjoy it, buy the right one I don't think you ever regret it, Mike

I'd agree here. I'd only add the 'extra' fuel over a typical sports car as a cost of Ferrari ownership thing. I also wouldn't include tyres as all cars bar-none will need them over time. Our Boxster S does about 20 in town and 30 on a run so if we can hit 15/20 in the Ferrari (not being too heavy with the right foot) we'll be happy.

I'd also say that perhaps you don't have to budget too much per year, but do ensure you have funds available so if need be, you can fix stuff without pulling too much of a whiskey face. We were told a while back by both Graypaul and Autofficina to budget around £12-1500pa for base servicing and the odd bit that might need attention. That was bang-on for our first year (£1200 including the big-labour crank seal job).
