Do you think Speciale will start to appreciate in value now the books closed or do you think they will drop further?

I'd guess that'll depend on how well the 488 is received. From the Ferrari info, it's quicker than a Speciale around the track and has the trademark Ferrai 'driver fun', so assuming the Turbo'd engine doesn't put the purists off, why would the Spec go up in value if the base 488 is a better drivers car and supply is greater? Only time will tell. Crystal ball time
They'll always retain value well in the way all their ltd ed cars do

Hard to believe that that car was exactly what someone was after! Just hideous.

That is exactly the same as the Scud and the the then new 458. Scuds went up.

This time there's a lot more Speciales than Scuds out there so I expect a longer period of drop/stagnation and then a slow burn back up probably crossing the purchase price and into gain in 2017/18.

According to Ferrari there are considerably less Speciale's than Scud's, 120 right hand drive is the number I have heard several times, was at my local yesterday for an update on mine, last build date is May, he still has 10 hopers on his books waiting for any cancellations...

I was told by a UK dealer and a German dealer that there are a lot less Speciales than Scuds. On Ferrarichat the same seems to have been said in the US. The total seems to be around 3000 Scuds and 2000 Speciales being quoted. How true that that I do not know.

Yes but scuds went down to £115K before they started to climb and only climbed when everything else did, i.e. they didn't start moving independently of the market. Speciales will depreciate just like every thing else did, probably go down to circa £160K over the next 24 months before firming up. Re appreciation who knows, the market is hugely over inflated at the moment and hasn't got much more room for expanding prices.

I can see £190-200k in 2 years but £160k seems a stretch - barring exogenous events like Ukraine situation going south for example.

160 is what will get when you go to part ex it against 488. Given dealer margin 185 to 200 forecourt sounds about right.

There were 164 Scuds delivered new to the UK. Not sure how many now (I don't trust the DoT registration figures that are used for HowManyLeft because I cannot reconcile the different datasets properly). I am expecting slightly more Speciales than that (although fewer Speciale Apertas than 16Ms) when UK deliveries are complete particularly as there are a few more cars coming to the UK now with the recent changes in the exchange rate against the Euro (i.e. Ferrari makes more profit per car). 101 UK Speciales up to the end of third quarter last year so I am guessing maybe another 80 between fourth quarter last year and first half of this year.

I don't believe the total production for Scuds was 3,000. That would be including 16Ms and there were a lot more of those than there will be Speciale Apertas since, by all accounts, Ferrari are actually sticking to the notional limit of 499 for it.

When i spoke to my dealer last week they had sold 15 and that was 10% of the UK sales figures.
