Don't worry values will NOT be mentioned.

So... Over the weekend I read an interesting line in a post on here, along the lines of "the 360 CS is magical whereas the 430 Scuderia is brutal". I thought summed things up really well but it did get me pondering... with the 458 Speciale now out and people taking delivery can anyone pass comment on how this latest car now compares. Never driven one myself but sat in quite a few and they really are a thing to behold. As the last NA 'special' Ferrari really have ended on a high - it's probably the only thing I would plan to swap my Scud for in the future.
Comments on how the 430 Scud significantly moved the game on from the CS (that's not to belittle the CS as I trawled high and low for one but alas missed the boat, they too are amazing) can the same be said in terms of size of leap from the Scuderia to the Speciale? Autocar said (and it was the same driver that drove the Scuderia in the previous Autocar review) the Speciale is as brilliant as the Scud but moves the game on 10% www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCq39DRvNKE - would 10% be correct, if so could it also be an indication of getting close to the edge of the envelope so we are now seeing ever diminishing returns? Or is 10% pants and it's another huge leap...

For those in the know, can you complete this sentence...

"the 360 CS is magical whereas the 430 Scuderia is brutal and the 458 Speciale is XXXX" (doesn't have to be a four letter word either biggrin)

Yep saw that, thing is the same was said when each model came out. There's been lots of opinion on CS vs Scud but not seen Scud vs Speciale. I get how good it is in isolation...

Sorry GRBF430F1 not looking for any 650s view either wink

Speciale is AWESOME ....
as a track focussed car but the missus already complains about me driving the 430 Scuderia too fast and she moans she can't hear the music. I just tell her to switch off the stereo and then she will hear it.biggrin

I don't think you can really compare standard road cars with stripped out lightweight track cars. They are designed to be different. I love both and particularly spiders.
If only I could of got a 458 Speciale A Spider

??? Which one of the three cars I mentioned (CS / SCUD / SPECIALE) is the standard road car?

Agreed, I've loved my Scuderia but after having some proper track time in Speciales I'm looking at changing up. Despite having such high levels of performance I think the Speciale still menages to be a hoot on the road as well.

Unless you're at high speed/high rev's it doesn't feel hugely faster but the performance is that much more accessible, for me the big advance is the brakes - they're a huge improvement over the Scuderia.
Cracking car.

I looked at a few CS's before I got my Scud, they're a special thing, limited numbers (before Ferrari realised how strong the demand was was this type of variant) and great fun, but for me every new iteration has been better than the last.

None I'm just saying its not a like for like comparison in the video or a lot of the reviews which put the 458 Speciale up against the 650S and then rag them round a race track. To even it out you would then have to crawl through the west end in traffic jams and with speed humps which wouldn't be much fun

Equally I think it would not be apples v apples with 675LT v 488GTB. 675LT v Speciale fair enough because that's the closest you can get as like for like track focussed cars given McLaren's and Ferrari's product cycles

Think you're missing the point completely sir (clearly this isn't it - 675LT v 488GTB). I'm not including a normal variant - actually I'm comparing two specific cars, one the immediate predecessor to the other... My view and am sure I will be proved wrong is the jump from Scuderia to Speciale isn't a big as the jump from CS to Scuderia.

Merely pointing out I hadn't seen a direct comparison yet and was just interested in anyone experience (eg JonnyF)

I'll put my hand up to having comparatively little time in the CS compared to the Scuderia and Speciale but I think you're right.
I really noticed the outright performance gains from CS --> Scud compared to Scud --> Speciale.
I understand views like GBRF430 that the performance levels of the Speciale might make it less of a thrilling road car but I can't fault the balance Ferrari have struck between road/track performance.
I can't give the Speciale higher praise than being ready to chop in my fking fantastic Scuderia to get one in my garage.
Thought so... You're a few years ahead of me Jonny (need to get my Scud fix for a good while) but at least the future flip looks in VERY good shape! smile IMO These things have to be epic to swap out of a Scuderia...

Enjoy the journey sir...

Interesting... Possibly due to the base car such a good platform in the first place...

CS and Speciale.
