I know it's uncouth to talk openly about money in relation to Ferrari ownership.....however, I have a friend with a 12 plate high spec California (original list was apparently circa £220k) with about 15k miles which is due for the PCP balloon in the Autumn. Has anyone recently p/x'd or sold into the main dealers without buying another car who might share their experience of pricing with me off-line? I'm getting ready to advise my friend on the balloon situation & any help would be appreciated. Thanks biggrin

A lot can happen to the market in six months - there's a few currently in the classified retailing from £ 115 up for later cars so that's probably a buy-in at £ 100 - also was it a late original or an early 30 as that will probably affect things

£220k's a huge price for a California, my last one was considered high spec and that listed at £186k, mind you it's easily done if it's full of carbon.

In Jan a Specialistr paid £125k straight purchase on a 2014 with 5k miles so I'd expect a bid around £85k - 90k for your friends car

Right now I would say 105k trade - maybe a bit more for the extras - not sure how those are valued if at all

For example HR owen are retailing a 12k mile car for 117k, not sure if 30 model. Specialist sold a good spec 30 for 115k with 8k miles

I am looking for a non red 30 sub 10k miles and am expecting to pay 115-120k from dealer

Thanks for the guidance. Ironically the car isn't the usual Rosso Corsa but an option colour which explains part of the original massive list price! I'm fearful that the car will be below the minimum guaranteed future value (MGfV) by some margin as Ferrari have in the last few years been putting strong MGFV on their cars to get the customers in - the friend in question also has a habit of not selling his cars in the last 13 yrs and I think he should be handing it back if it's not worth the MGFV on the day of reckoning.

I was just told that they don't - they do balloons but no guaranteed value for the car

Gulp, wouldn't want a balloon outstanding for more than the value of the car at the end of the contract. Sounds like it could end in tears
