Thinking of making the move back over to Ferrari from Porsche and this caught my eye

The price of the CS has increased hugely in line with all other classics, us Porsche guys used to have it better but thats changed dramatically!

This one is cheaper because its LHD and high mileage, the mileage doesn't bother me as long as the car is in good condition.

Nice to know its been used and not paranoid about it having had a haircut.

Any pointers on what to look out for and anyone used the dealer?

Can't help with that particular car but just to say I did a similar trade last year and just haven't looked back. Traded out of my 997 gen 1 GT3 RS into a LHD Stradale. Loved and respected the RS massively, BUT, the Stradale is on another level in terms of raw emotion, noise and smiles per mile. Not sure which is the more capable and maybe it is the RS but who cares.....

Mine just had a thorough going over at The Ferrari Centre and happy to report no problems but would say:

- definitely get a PPI done
- service history likely to be more gappy but not a major problem in my opinion as long as main dealer or well respected independents - mine has 5 stamps and 15k miles
- carbon fibre in engine bay can go a little milky owing to the engine heat - mine has some slight signs of this but about to give it a proper going over very soon

Will leave it to those more in the know to highlight the proper technical stuff....

Ball joints and sticking brake callipers.
Both these can be fixed with Hill's parts smile
Get the brake and clutch wear reading done.

Does 'ball joints' manifest as slight clicking noise from front as you over bumps and undulations?

Ball joints is a knocking sound over bumps etc, sounds like its from the glove box, but CS 's don't have a glove box smile
Once Hill's joints fitted problem solved.
The pistons in the brake callipers corrode as they are poor material, Hill's are stainless and last.

sounds lovely

and sounds like somebody who is doing sth similar to what I thought about doing in Spring - buy car in Germany, drive it a little (in my case a nice road trip from Germany through the Alps and then up North to the UK), then import to the UK and put up for sale (supplied to the current UK owner at the beginning of the year.... or words to that effect).

Thanks for that.

I had the knocking on my 430 and I think its just started on the CS. They seem to be so fragile. Can the Hill part take more of a hammering?

The failure of the OEM joints is due to the material selection - they are made from chrome plated mild steel. As the ball rotates inside the joint the chrome wears off. Not only does this reduce the size of the ball but also allows moisture to rot the underlying metal. Hills joints are made from stainless steel so hold up much better in this regard. However, they are still a wear item and will go in time.

I would go for a SCUD over CS anytime now. So much better and as raw.You get a low mileage SCUD, new under £90K in europe. Just done it with Full ferrari warrenty.
The CS LHD in Europe are cheaper too then in the UK. Would not bother buying a LHD from the UK with current strong exchange rate. The UK dealers are making a mint on LHD's to be honest. Just miss out the middle man and do it yourself.

Any advise on the process of buying and getting it back over here? Might be tempted myself...

I have used the dealer for purchase and servicing. Highly recommend as they appear to me to be very particular about the standard of cars that they sell.

Hi All,
I am in the thick of it just now! I thought I had missed the boat on them to be honest, I always wanted a CS. I spied a similar mileage to the one above on Autoscout, LHD in Italy a few weeks ago, a deposit, quick flight to check all was good in a day and a couple of weeks later mine arrived literally Wed night, inside a well known classic car transporting companies truck - in great company - with a 250SWB and 275GTB coming back from some racing last weekend. MOT booked for after the BH weekend then I'll be at the mercy of the DVLA. The lights are switchable for driving on the left, the only other thing I am slightly worried about now is the speedo in Miles/KMs. It's got great service history, including fairly recent belts, 2 owners, really clean, carbon fibre inside is immaculate - I’m told never tracked. Now onto that paperwork for the log book....if anyone on here has a CofC that they wouldn’t mind sending me a photo/copy of (with personal info/chassis/engine numbers blacked out of course) I’d really appreciate it. Over 10 years old you don’t need a CofC but there is quite a bit of info required for the registration that isn’t in the books.

Exactly. Hill's joints last twice as long as originals, but they too will fail. You also get a similar noise over bumps from drop links, lower shock joints and track rod ends.

Am I reading the price of this right ?

Seems about £30k less than previous RHD CS for sale. Wouldn't he have got offered better than that in the trade or is the market turning and dealers only want massssssssssive margins to play us with ?????
