OOOH glad I didn't sell mine three weeks ago for a mere 50k over list.

The 650s is truly special list around £290 with a good spec selling around £190k now OUCH

They're that special that onlookers walked past two speciale's and made a beeline for a McLaren 650s at Oultan Park today
Despite the crappy weather, I think there was plenty of love for all the cars at Oulton Park on Monday! And the green 650S was certainly eye-catching...

That 650s is shmee's old car I do believe, and apparently people were walking straight past the speciales to go and look at that 650s spider biggrin

I thought Tim still had the 650S.

I enjoyed admiring the McLaren, but was still happy to be going home in what I'd brought!

When we got un-snarled from the Oulton Park exit traffic we had more than enough fun playing on the way back to the M6!

No he sold on, he is expecting a 675LT I believe in October - he's had his Letter of Intent/Order in since late last year before the car was announced.

The speciale is a magnificent thing, and the reports of many owners say it really is at home on the track where you can sufficiently stretch their legs! They're certainly not meant for being sat on a motorway! What did you have before the Speciale - and how does it compare?

Have you got anymore photos of yours? biggrindriving

I told told the owner of the 650s about a certain thread being discussed on PH's
So we conducted an experiment "which car will stop onlookers in their tracks"
I cant remember seeing a single person walking over to the two Speciale's
All i saw was crowds around the 650s

Presuming on payment tim paid off the outstanding amount - people do different things with their money - not everyone buys cash, but I do seem to think most people at this level are?

How the hell do you go from a mondial to a 32 year newer car? haha mental. What is the spec of your car? Wasn't overly sure from your photo.

I believer there was over 11K miles in one of his final videos so presuming about 12k miles or so on a 64 reg car smile

That's the power of YouTube, everyone knows Tim's car and is hoping to feature in one of his videos!
£50k loss in 6 months has to hurt no matter how many views the videos get.

Have you driven a 650s?
If not then you really should, its what a Ferrari should have been
By the way the crowds were attracted to the 650s not because of the previousow owner more due to the fact it was simply stunning :-)

Great car I have no doubt but don't underestimate the Shmee effect, it's featured in so many videos it will be a teen car spotter magnet.

Speciale and 650S are both awesome cars but in slightly different ways. I chose a 650S spider over a 458 speciale having extensively test driven both. It was just the more accomplished supercar overall for my personal needs as I do more fast road driving than track days and love to have the roof down.
Do I have any regrets - absolutely not
Am I surprised people look at the McLaren more than the Ferrari - absolutely not
Would I pay £100k more for a Speciale - absolutely not

The tide is turning and in years to come the McLaren 650S will be a very sought after car and its a real steal right now and incredible value for money.
Total production of 2,500 worldwide and circa 200 in the UK means its Ferrari limited edition numbers with a brand that is rapidly growing. Bag a bargain while you can and avoid the prancing horse premium to boot.

Sure Speciale is more fun to drive on the track and will retain its value well but not 50% more than a 650S and at those prices I can see the McLaren performing just as well on future residuals in the medium/long term ( 5 yrs + )

how would the teen car spotters recognise the fact it belonged to Tim (unless there is only one green 650)
When Tim purchased the car it went on to a private reg not the one on it now
It was mainly people over 40's that were paying close attention to the car not teen spotters
