Really love both cars however .............................

I only have a single size garage how the hell are you supposed to open the doors.

Guess Mclaren designers must assume anyone who can afford one must have a double garage.

How do you Mclaren owners manage, or is there something I dont know ?
In fact if you have a standard single garage with an opening of 2.10 m or less then a 458 will not fit in at all even with the wing mirrors tilted in as these are the widest part of a 458 whereas with the McLaren you can still get through the aperture as its actually narrower at this point.

I have a double garage with single doors so getting through the 2.10 m aperture is the issue as once inside there is loads of room to open doors on either side.

My new neighbour has a white 458 Italia and obviously didn't measure the garage doors before buying the house and now has to keep it outside on his drive way rofl

Sorry have to laugh as he has come onto the private estate thinking he is the big "I am" revving his 458 all the time and zooming to the junction 50 metres away at warp speed only to find out tucked away in my lovely heated garage is a 650s spider which is newer and better than his car rofl

I'm afraid his type gives Ferrari owners a bad reputation, but I obviously cant say they are all knobs considering I have a F355 GTS that's probably nearly worth as much as his 458

"I say what I like and I like what I say" - George Whitebread.

At least I don't constantly rev it and drive like a looney in a private road where he is the new tom cat

You macca boys are out in force but why on the specific ferrari v8 section screams insecurity lol
Light hearted banter boys calm down

Rambolambo I swear you had a thread dedicated to you because of the tripe you come out with,'my 650s is newer and better than he's 458'?? Wow the new breed of macca owners are turning into the old breed of ferrari owners

I think 3 clicks down there is a mclaren section just in case you forgot.

RL your not right mate!
Your insecurity about ferrari is crazy give in and go and get a proper supercar listen to your inner voice and sell your wannabe ferrari and get a proper one ala 458 or 488 (if you can afford it mind) your carbon tub (macca's measley claim to fame) is nothing compared to 1 prancing horse badge.

The 488 will wipe the floor with everything just like the 458 does and did and every manufacturer will always try to compete with ferrari the benchmark.

OP get the 458 a true classic and a bargain and probably the best NA v8 of our generation that will only go up in time

Lambo/porsche/macca are all great but it's just not a ferrari and that is what hurts people.

RL did say your not right mate

458 is a great car and if you like to pay a premium for the prancing horse and have an inferior product IMHO that your choice. I have no brand loyalty and will simply buy the best of its kind out there at the time.
If that's a Kia so be it.
For me as far as £200 to £300k supercars go that was undoubtedly the 650S spider but I also appreciate that its not everyone elses cup of tea.
Maybe I'm so used to leading now I simply cant follow the rest of the flock anymore.

Todays Ferrari followers/owners are not necessarily Mclarens future audience. You need to be ahead of the game and see what is developing with the brand.
Mention Ferrari, Lamborghini or Porsche to my kids and you get a blank expression and why would you want one of them dad they are too common and nothing special.

Say McLaren to them and they come alive and get all excited. These are the future McLaren buyers and the tide is definitely turning. May take another 10 years but that would still be a massive achievement in anyones books

Just measured the garage door 2.4 meters.
Internal garage usable width 2.75 meters.

Any chance I will be able to open the passenger door and get out ?

As noted above you need about half a meter for a normal or McLaren door - your win is having a wider than standard garage door so its easy to get a car (which is just under 2 mtrs wide) in - ask the dealer to bring one down if you're not sure

Wikipedia disagrees with RamboLambo (which you have to admit is quite easy) about 458 width: just under/just over 2 mtr

As you are used to a car with high power and have considered spending less than a 458 how about this:-
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...
Ticks a lot of boxes, limited edition special with unique upgrade, almost no miles and I think looks great.
Whichever way you go, enjoy.

Must agree looks great. But would seem to me personally as a step back from a Ferrari California.

As of last week it was done and dusted I would trade the California in for a 458, now after the Mclaren
bug seems to have bitten me I am not so sure.
Wouldn't mind went to view a 458 Spider in Bentley Manchester and garage was full of Mclarens including a P1 that was when it all started.

Head V heart and a little devil on each shoulder pushing me one way then another.
confused

Same issue in October for daily drive new X6 50D (sensible choice)or X6M (mad choice)

Little Devil that snorts petrol won..................biglaugh
