That car if it has a deposit is 150k no less, I was told the owner wouldn't even show the car unless it was 150k offered.

i think around 150k is probably about right - were they not base in the mid/high 130s. Long time ago though, so memory a bit fuzzy

Base was about £120k (about 10% up on a 360) IIRC.

Back then you paid extra for the F1 'box. Crazy days! wink

I think you'd want more than a month's MOT for £150k, mind.

14 miles between (main dealer) services. Batst mental.

'Dave, on the 430 just drain the oil out the bottom and put it back in the top!'

I doubt it. Unless it was dry stored with no lubricants and on stilts as the wheels would have suspension would have gone wonky not having moved in 20+ yrs. But even then think of all the gaskets, seized up/hardened rubber bits, hoses, wires and other perishable items etc

Someone will have a big bill after they buy it.

Although I think the price is totally unrealistic for this to sell

A much better car would be a 1-3k mile p.a. car that has had things used and fixed over time

Agreed, very expensive to put into a useable state and all you would achieve would be the put a huge dent in the value. Likely to be a car destined for "investment" and only more likely if the values keep increasing. A shame but financial madness to do anything else.

I have started tracking 355 prices every other day and the current average asking price is just a shade over £100k.

I have had a 360, two F430's and now a 458. I like the 355 but if (as is the case) I could only have one F car, I can't imagine paying this much when just a little more will get you an objectively much better and more capable and (I'll go out on a limb here) more fun car. It makes no sense to me, as a person who buys F cars to drive them not re-sell or admire them.

The manual F355 world has gone crazy.

I have just bought-back by old F355 which I sold in 2002 with 20k miles on the clock and has now done 34k miles, all full documented with all MOT's, receipts, everything.

When I bought her the first time in 2000 a manual F355 was the poor man's version, but not now!

Because she was damaged and sold as a CAT D she hasn't gone up in value like other F355 manuals. I appreciate that people are wary of CAT D cars but availability of the parts required was very slow at the time so the insurers paid out and sold the car on, in its damaged state.

The car was repaired by Mike Osgood, long time Maranello bodyshop manager who set up on his own in the '90's. He used new parts and Maranello did suspension geometry set-up after the car had been repaired. It was then independently checked by 'Autolign' and re-assigned as 'Condition Inspected' rather than CAT D

Had the insurance company paid for the repair no-one would now know and the car would be worth ??? but as it has the dreaded 'previous CAT D' people are wary of it, but I guess it means I can use her without worrying about adversely affecting her value.

(I know an owner just like this, scarred to drive his F355 because he thinks every journey is going to devalue it - sad)

Either raising the bar or the effect of some very potent drugs.

So much more you could buy for that money, and I love 355's, had three of them, but in no way are they worth anywhere near that.
